you could probably add the corruptor, erebus, malice, reaper, nightwretch, and shrike to the list. Everything but the night wretch I would put in the "viable but niche" compartment. Corruptor is ok, but hardly makes it into list because of its price tag. Erebus is just cool to have with Scaverous, 14/20 with Poltergeist and choosing columns is no joke and getting the occasional soul is nice. The freeze is gravy and don't forget that he's also immune to cold for some reason. I hardly ever put Malice into lists, but he does have a role to fill. If only he had something more than a single POW 16 melee attack, but at least it's magical damage. Reaper has a 2" melee range, so is one of our fastest jacks, it's relatively cheap and brings good utility with drag. I'm not sure why you don't like the Nightwretch. If I'm not playing Black Industries I usually go for Deathrippers on the cheap, but if I have a point to spare, or am taking my arc nodes for free, the Nightwretch is the standard choice. The gun is actually solid and you can boost to hit or damage with the Power Up focus. I used to occasionally take Ripjaws, but POW 10 with crit AP is just too unreliable, even with Powerful Attack, because you will usually want to charge, then probably have to boost to hit your charge attack, wasting a focus because of the already boosted damage. Then you can't even buy and boost anymore. Even in melee lists, having that 1 powerful gun can help a lot. Shrike can technically do a lot, under the right circumstances. But even if it can't, it's cheap, has good defense and has an annoying damage grid to take out. The free trample, which basically ignores most free strikes can also be pretty good under an ILO, getting Dark Shroud to wherever you want, using Crush on the trample damage and getting a free attack at the end. I'll try to cram the Harrower into a list some time to get a feel for it.

The list of 'casters that can give it what it needs (aside from those you mentioned) to get into infantry in a bad way is pretty substantial: -Gaspy3 (speed/accuracy but not trivial to do both) -Mortenabra (speed and easy 3 FOC for boosts) -Venethrax (if you haven't played him in Black Industries you are missing out on a fun time) -Scaverous (TK/Icy Grip) I'm just starting to dip my toe into Cryx so please forgive me if this is obviously foolish, but running the Harrower under Aiakos1 with Escort up and Grievous wounds seems kinda good. Spd7 with thresher negating tough into boosted wraith shot AoE followed up by Aiakos seems like a pretty good way to clear a sizable group, while not sacrificing all utility into harder targets. Again, completely new and coming from Mercs where tethering 39 points to a paper thin 4 point model isn't crazy, so take it with all the salt.

It would still require a DEF debuff from you caster to be very effective, but yes, this could work.

Yeah, I think that would work fine. Just don't get in on more infantry models than you have boosts for, you REALLY want the quick work to happen.
Also, the Nightwretch is super awesome. My go-to Arc Node, that can actually do things besides being an Arc Node for (usually) zero 'caster investment. Best one, in my opinion.
