Our local game store was running a 75% off Warmachine sale as they decided to lower the amount of stuff they keep on hand for the game. Alas, I'm waiting to get paid, so my money was limited, but I still grab a unit of Steelhead Heavy Cavalry, Bane Riders, Dr. Arkadius, and Brun Cragback & Lug, all for like 50 bucks. Pretty good deal!
I won't get to most of these any time soon, so they'll just go in my big box of unassembled Warmachine minis. Someday I'll do something with them.

I also played a game yesterday, against Rob, running my 75 point Will Work For Food list, using Rask as the caster. Because I needed to leave as soon as possible, I didn't take notes, so we could play more quickly. Rob ended up taking Jaws of the Wolf with a Victor, Conquest, and a Behemoth, and used Vlad1 as the caster. Scenario was The Pit II
I won the roll-off, elected to go first, moved up. Rob's first turn, he shot Brine off the table, damaged the Wrastler, and moved everything up. I realized I probably should go for scenario, as he had nothing on my left side of the table, so I parked the Dracodile in the zone, destroyed the objective, moved things to give him things to charge, popped my feat, and let him have his turn.
He popped his feat, moved everything forward, and shot with what he could find because of Rask's feat. He killed a Croak Hunter, damaged my Spitter, and tried to get things into the zones (but critically, put nothing into my left jack zone). I'm up 2-0 (objective + zone).
My Turn 3 I destroy the Victor with the Wrastler and the Dracodile (who is still in the zone), clear the center zone (for Rask to score it). I jump a Totem Hunter in the way of the Behemoth so he can't charge the Dracodile. The Conquest takes a shot from the Spitter, Rorsch, and a Fury'd up charge from Snapjaw, but still has like 20 boxes left, and I can't do anything about it. I end the turn, score the center and left zone, and am up 4-0.
His Turn 3, he decides he can't get back in the scenario game (he still hasn't destroyed my objective), and tries for an assassination. The Behemoth charges and kills Snapjaw. The Conquest charges Rask, sitting on two Fury, but with Star-Crossed up, he can't hit him enough to matter, doesn't get the kill, and I win by scenario on my turn.
Overall, I had fun, and we talked about the game some. This is the second time he's tried this list (once against Joey), and I think he needs to deploy his list centrally to get some pressure on both sides of the board. I deployed like that, and could put at least some bodies in each zone. I really enjoyed using WWFF, but I'm not getting the full benefit of it yet. I also wonder how I'll handle Joey's Dwarfs with it- I just don't think I have the volume of attacks I'd need to eat through the infantry. Might be I'll have to use the Maelok list for those matchups.

I hate to be the rules lawyer, but it looks like you destroyed his objective on the top of turn two. Those cannot be targeted, damaged, or even have effects applied to them until the bottom of two, iirc. It sounds like a great game otherwise, and I rather suspect you could have taken it out on top of three anyways.

From the card: "This model cannot be targeted or damaged until the second player’s second turn". Whew, two games in a row with me missing some serious rules :-\. I'm getting way too sloppy. Thank you for pointing it out though, I'd rather get all of this stuff figured out and done CORRECTLY before I play in a more serious environment. I can handle embarrassing rules lapses in 'friendly' games! Thankfully, in this case, it wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome, so I don't feel too terrible. It probably would've made the game last another turn or so, but I felt I had what I needed available to kill the Conquest on my next turn, leaving him with very little that could effectively fight for the zones. Still... one never knows...

On the army modeling front, I did some work over the weekend, I assembled my Boneswarm, filed and clued my Bone Shrines to their bases, and filed and washed the Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron. They should be assembled tonight. Now to start looking for my next game (and to try not to screw up rules again!).

And assembled the Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron last night, and filed/washed the Swamp Horror. Progressing nicely!

I think we're having a hard time figuring out how to get the right amount of terrain on the table, and where it should go. I've tried using other battle reports for inspiration, but it's still a work in progress, haha.

Take a quarter of the terrain and fill with various terrain. That is the amount of terrain you will distribute about the table.

Played another game last night- played with a bit more terrain than usual, spaced out a bit more. I ran Maelok (BC) against Joey's Ossrum (Hammer Strike). I went first came up the field pretty aggressively, and screened my stuff well. He had to pop his feat defensively, but used it to get some of his stuff into combat and into good position. I popped my feat, and did a lot of work on my right side of the table. He realized he was going to lose the attrition game, and went for an assassination, that failed. The Wrastler then killed Ossrum.
I have been in the mindset that Rask is going to have to be my go-to warlock against Dwarfs, just because his feat keeps me safe a turn, and Fury gives me the punch I need. But now... I definitely think Maelok is the answer. Mortality is a great spell, Death Pact is great for keeping my army in the fight, and his feat lets me get unstuck really easily.
Definitely need to grab a fourth unit of Posse for the next time I use him.

Maelok gators are definitely a thing. I think that I fear triple posse with croaks more than quad posse, though, but I haven't faxed either many times. Quad posse is certainly a nightmare from an "army points destroyed"perspective, at least for a non-blessed melee-based list.
And don't be too hard on yourself for the rules errors, they happen to everyone at every level is play.

I was 100% going to grab some Croaks when I started getting a real Jaga-Jaga list together. Having them as another range option would be kind of nice though... I will have to think about it. And yeah, I'm not too upset. I'm getting better about the rule mistakes. Just need to play more! :-D

Just a quick update- I played against Joey's Ossrum list again about two weeks ago with Maelok, and pulled off a pretty solid victory. Liking how he's playing, and managing to do pretty well with him. First try using a Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron and a Boneswarm. Hoping to make some new list updates, and get games on the table more frequently (shooting for once a week now). Wish me luck!

Played another Maelok game last Thursday, with the same list, once again against Joey's Ossrum list. We played The Pit II.
Went down on control points 0-3 on the bottom of two, as he destroyed my objective and controlled the square zone. I responded by popping my feat, applying a unit of Posse into each zone, and then proceeded to grind away his army. Ossrum had to come up to support his army in my left zone, which let me cast Mortality on him. My Spitter shot, and two Posse members charged him, and I got my win.

I also should mention- I finally ordered everything I need to complete my 75 point Rask and Maelok lists. Basically, Dahlia, a Gremlin Swarm, Saxon Orrik, and a fourth unit of Posse. Once I get these assembled and on the table, I'll be working on getting my Cryx army playable, starting with Skarre 1 (in Dark Hosts, most likely).
