ok well I was horribly wrong...that thing is huge... Why though? Scale it down and reduce the price. I don't get the thinking on this at all.

I, on the other hand, would LOVE an extreme war wagon cast to coincide with a KC CID cycle. Lol. I got into trolls specifically because I LOVED the models. I hope they keep it up (but offering some options such as Mauler vs Extreme Mauler might be helpful).

To be fair, looking at it, there does seem to be a LOT of bits. The dracodile, while absolutely gorgeous, is a fairly simple model. At an absolute guess, I’d say there are maybe 10 pieces? (I’d actually be very interested to know, if someone has the kit.)
The hauler, on the other hand, has all manner of bits and shields and barrels and junk hanging off it, it’s going to be a big, complex kit. That does go some way to explaining the cost.
It’s still way too expensive for me though. As others have said, make it smaller, simpler, and affordable.

HHH confirmed at 53 pieces. You can use PG points to get one, which bypasses duties (they mark it as $1 for import reasons, as you technically haven't paid anything). Ask your ex-PG buddies if you can?
Either way, seeing the size and knowing what those silicone molds would look like to cast 53 pieces, the price seems to be pretty justified. Also, totally awesome rules and model.

Binder clips holding up a background for a rapid-response photo op. Interesting how this HH comparison photo seemed to be quickly posted on PP Facebook... Perhaps a response to, or justification against all the 'too expensive' comments being posted? Side note: Can you imagine taking this model through TSA for a flight to a convention?

The release of the photo would definitely be as a result of the public backlash. Like with ALL of the online rage it will die down in the next day or two and move onto the next thing.
It is huge and looks very cool, you can see the price difference between the models but doesn't make any less expensive.
I'll definitely be getting one.. I got asked if you could make a list with two of them.. I said not that at that price.. lol.

Don't think anyone has seriously questioned whether it was going to be big...but the size of the model has no impact on it's in-game rules, and many warmachine players are gamers as much (or more) as they are hobbyists. Personally, I'd rather pay less for a less impressive model, and I'd be inclined to skip out on a (non-essential) model in that price range. 80 bucks for a BE is already pretty dang pricy, more than double that is silly. And that's not even counting the impact on international buyers. Bomma: online rage is one thing, lowered sales is another. I know I wouldn't buy one of these, even if I did play trolls, and the cost of this + northkin raiders would definitely make me want to stay away from Storm of the North, given the option to do so.

Storm of the North has TONS of options. No HHH or Raiders still leaves you with too many good units to leave out (fire Eaters, bears, champs and long riders?!).
It’s an amazing theme with tons of options even without those models.

Seems like they went through design without ever getting a price quote. Honestly, I get that impression for a lot of the things they do. It really does feel like looks above all else. It's hard to argue with them on that, it's going to sell more models, but it causes some additional problems. First, I don't think they actually try to transport their models further than the studio shelf to the gaming table. That's my first big problem with all the huge based models is it causes logistics problems of how to move this massive model around. Second, the models keep getting larger, and more elaborate, and harder to store. I LOVE the Horgol2 model, but he's so far outside the usual 1-1 1/2" high models it makes it hard to put him in a tray without laying him over on his side. I think if they had to move some of these models around a bit they'd think about that more. To be fair, they travel to a lot of conventions and a lot of their employees play regularly at game stores. Again though, it just seems like they lacked the internal milestone checks to make sure things were on track. Is the current model as designed worth $165 based on detail? Probably? Maybe? But the real problem is they designed a model that costs that much.

Thematically, the keg being larger than a king makes some sense. The trolls just need that much alcohol. There is even a real world precedent for kegs that big, just go to the schloss in Heidelberg, Germany to see one.
While I have the disposable income to afford this, my price point for a single model tops out at about 120 USD.

The nice part from their perspective is in the event that they have a "swing and a miss" type moment, at least they've essentially built these to order. They're not just going to clog up LGS store shelves like so many Katherine Laddermore's in Mk2.

Discounted from retail by anywhere from 5-15%.
