Daughter got a metric ton of Ret in a trade deal. Me personally, I never dealt with them and have only seen them on the table top once, maybe twice. That time I learned to appreciate the pull mechanics of battle mages before losing. I play Cygnar/Trolls so don't really have experience.
Basically she has all the casters except Gryyyyshld and Elara2, she has at least one of every jack except Helios, Harpy, Siren (she has Hyperion) (quite a few Chimeras/Griffons).
She has 2 MHSF (both with commander and Eiryss), 2 Halberds+UA, 1 Sent+UA, 1 Rifle, 1 Invic (no UA I don't think), 2 Battle Mages,1 Archer.
Also has a host of solos (and mercs from what I have like A&H).
I've been reading through the lists/casters for hours but I'm looking for a really EASY caster to ease her into the game. Trying to get an easy 35pt/75pt list (if I don't have it I'll proxy it for the learning) for her to play. Ret is more "tricksy" of a group and I come from lightning hops/beatdown type lists to finesse isn't exactly my thing. I did buy her a soulless tonight (she likely needs a second one).
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Also, if not too much to ask, tell me what opposing amy list (cyg/trolls) would have difficulty handling her list and I'll play that. Right now Cyg is running Haley3/Gravedigger Nemo3/storm and Trolls Mad1 Champs/Kol Northkin so they're not really the best lists for her to learn against.
The critical models in the list are MHSF+E3 and Dahlia. Dahlia with shield guards is a nightmare for trolls. MHSF+E3+Blur/Banishing ward is a nightmare if you don't have good stealth negation or a lot of AoEs.
tanan curious as to the inclusion of Aiyana and Holt, Ret are not short of magic weapons, and only Holt and Skareth can benefit from Kiss
Small, hard to kill units are very good in SR2017. I could use Spears, but they cost a point more and have to get into melee to be useful. A&H packs surprisingly amount of punch for it's point cost. Handing out magic weapons for Skareth, MHA or MHSF+E3 can be very useful in certain matchups. I have never benefitted from +2 to dmg to Skareth.
I was thinking kaelyssa too, but something a little more basic and out of theme.
Let get the basics of the game before throwing in theme benefits.
You can easily play my list outside of theme by removing Narn. If you don't have two soulless, you can upgrade the battlegroup by adding a arc node or Griffon. Many dislike the Daemon, but I have found that it's very good at killing infantry that tries to hide behind cloudwall, forest, LoS blocking terrain or dig in.
This seems like an alright starting point list. It provides a good range of mechanics with nothing too complicated. I would suggest maybe removed Elara1. Journeymen can be frustrating to play at first because they can be very high risk and Disco on Kae is actually great.
We ended up playing Kaelyssa, Phoenix, 2x Chimera, Halberd+UA+Soul, Archers for her 35 pt against my Griss2, Bomber, Mauler, Axer, Stone list. She clumped the Halberds too close and to far ahead first turn so I knocked them down. Turn 2 she pressed forward with Chims/Phoenix but too close and I knocked them down. The Archers held their own circle the whole time as, at 35 pts, I couldn't stretch myself further.
