Tinkering around with Cryx lists (Playing DH/Scourge tomorrow in a local SR,) as the grass is always greener. What I mean by that is ive been playing Grymkin but not impressed at all with their infantry. Thus dusting off my Cryx models has ensued. Wanting your opinions on the lists ive built. The Black Industries list is something I REALLY want to try, but also worried it wont fare well on a competitive SR level. Im praying the DarkHost list can deal with an Armor Skew (be it high armor infantry or Jack/Beast spam) while the Scourge list pressures Infantry spam/low model count lists. Heres what I have right now. | Cryx Army - 75 / 75 points

I find that DH runs pretty well on its own, regardless of caster. The Coven certainly supercharges it, however!
The trouble I always have with Black Industries is that you want units to score zones and to offer a little screening for your ‘jacks/caster to ward off some charge lanes. However, your options are limited there. Cephalyx Overlords can clear a bunch of infantry with sprays and they’re pretty self-sufficient, but it’s not a lot of bodies. Likewise, I’ve run the Devil’s Shadow Mutineers with Lord Rockbottom - they can clear infantry, but don’t offer many bodies. One benefit of both of those is that they have some mechanic for protecting them while they score/contest zones (stealth and recursion). I’ve also used Nyss Hunters when I want more bodies for screening. They’re nice, but more expensive. I don’t own Drudges, so I haven’t tried them. I’d like to hear what others think of them with Black Industries.
I have been waiting for the new models before I try Scourge, so I have no suggestions there. Wseraphim’s suggestion of using Wrong Eye with Satyxis does seem like fun.

I think Overlords (and soon Iron Mongers) are fine for holding zones in BI. Units with a small footprint are actually easier to hold zones with, especially when your opponent has bigger problems to worry about, like a bunch of heavies breathing down their neck. But I would indeed make sure you have at least one of those.
Consider making one of those Nightwretches a Scavenger, as usually Asphyxious doesn't need one arc node, let alone two. I also like to put said Scavenger on an Iron Lich Overseer, to get some more punching power (Dark Shroud) in the list.

I would definitely leave them in the list. The threat of assassination is enough reason. As to whether or not Black Industries is competitive, it certainly is.

I agree with you, but 1 arc node is enough to threaten that assassination. And since all his spells are RNG 10 or RNG SELF, Gaspy himself is usually far enough up the board to just cast it himself.
