No you need to prove that the other options are better. Burden of proof lies on your topics side. So again prove to me the other units outshine them or are their benifits lost to the hord? As i said ill discuss them but so far no one has stated why they are bad outside of "not getting free points in theme" So give it a try and open discussion. All things being equal, if one option gives me theme benefits while the other doesn't, there clearly is no reason to brake theme for them. I'm not arguing that one is worst and the other is better. I'm arguing that they don't have a compelling niche that makes them desirable. I'm arguing that what they do is not enough for me to lose out on theme benefits. But just to play along: 1.- As a Shield Wall unit I rather have IFP because of the 2 inch reach, higher pow, higher base MAT and synergies with IF solos. 2.- As a range unit, WGRC out threaten them even with Assault (20 vs 19), even before the bonuses for better RAT. 3.- As a defensive unit I would gladly miss out on theme benefits to take Kayazy over AKs, stealth is arguably a better defensive characteristic then their immunities. 4.- As a Tough mitigator the previously mentioned Kayazy are more reliable and Widowmakers do it from farther away. Only thing they provide that other units don't are the immunities and ignoring clouds. Both have their uses, but again, not compelling enough to miss out on theme benefits.

Too much would change if AKs became WH. Thematically it would have made the most sense to include them in the Legion of Steel theme. The description of the LoS includes "assault forces" and "marches..behind a wall of shields". I happen to own some nicely painted AKs + WAs but havn't been able to pick up IFP or Dragons. The Assault Kommander, Strakhov2, must have got hit on the head and forgot how to veteran lead AKs between mkii and mkiii. If they had been included in LoS, with a veteran leader Strakhov2 I would be playing them now even without them contributing to the theme points/benefit. They are probably not as competitive as IFP but they would be good enough to bring to the table. PP's choice to throw them in the WG theme would make me think that PP might have plans for them down the road. I think we probably will not see any movement on that for quite a while.

I'm assuming you mean losing VetLeader between Strakhov 1 and 2. The reason for not having them in LoS is it's a melee theme and the AKs would give it a good ranged presence. And yes the Assault Kommandoes will have a theme list and CID eventually, it's just not for a long while. So putting their theme out with just them for a potential 2 years, it would be the worst. So throwing them in the WGK just worked.

This makes sense. In the meantime I plan to start playing them in Company if Iron.

Actually it just shows that Strakov got bored of trying to improve the AKs and just took the best of them to be in his own unit.

.. Ever try them as a front line unit with Strokhov 2? He gives them the following options. 1. Reposition 5* 2. A possible +2 armor buff with im.. How Repo5? If you mean Battle Maneuvers, it can only effect his unit.

No, he has a rack of them back home, he just takes two with him at a time. When they die or get hospitalised, he picks the next two.
