The first thing to do would be to keep Caine out of Ruin's threat range. Ruin has an 11" threat with Butcher2 (I believe) and Caine3 shoots 12" with Flicker to back him up. There's no real reason to ever let Ruin get to Caine unless things have gone horribly wrong (and maybe they did in your case).
The second thing would be to keep things well away from the Gun Carriage. Sure, it threatens a far distance but not that much further than your Nyss. Run over to the opposite side of the board if you need to, because your goal in this matchup is to land a telling alpha strike. With so few pieces on the board the player who hits hard first wins, and that means denying your opponent the alpha just as much as seeking it out yourself. With Calamity and the good guns in your battle group it should be pretty easy to kill the Gun Carriage even if it hangs back.
I forgot about the Boundless charge from the bond, that's why the Ruin could reach me, but I think the match would end the same way, just a turn later. As I said, I don't have the Nyss at the start of the second turn, (sry about that, but I forgot to mention that there were 2 artillery piece, and some mechanics in the enemy list) 3 of them survive the aoe rains of the first turn, so I decide to charge the Carriage with them instead of CRA it. They did a fine job, I think they do 9 damage, and the Rover turn that into a 12. (That damage roll was terrible )
The scenario was a "2 flags + 10" killbox" so I can't hang back with Caine so much. The reason I attacked the Marauder instead of the Ruin is because the former stand near a flag, and the Ruin can't be targeted with Calamity due to Spell Ward, and I needed the Calamity to completely remove the jack, and don't allow the mechanics to kick the damaged systems into operation again. I still play with the tought to attack the Ruin, but when I rolled a 1 for RoF, it was decided. Even if I would roll a 5-6 on the second RoF check, there's no way I could remove the Ruin with 4 POW16 shots.
