I enjoy playing Calaban, but his sculpt is so tiny compared to the new gator sculpts ex. Jaga, BloB. I've thought about converting him using parts from the plastic gatorman posse leader, giving him more of an upright and imposing posture. Possibly by extending his legs/torso by going at both models with a hobby saw and lots of green stuff. Also probably try to cut off his voodoo mask and place it on the head of the posse leader so his mouth will be larger.
Has anyone done a conversion to our resident tiny gator warlock?

Well, I got all the parts I need to start this conversion, now to pop apart my calaban model and start hacking away. I'll post updates here if anything really works out well.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with! I'm going to be on vacation all week next week so hopefully I can find sometime to work on him, I've got some ideas in mind already, now to see how they all pan out. Either way, it'll be lots of time with a hobby saw.

I used a big glob of sticky tack to secure the pieces at odd angles to help with the delicate cutting.

Completely removed Calaban's head dress to attach to the head of the new model. I'll have to sculpt the back of the head dress using green stuff once I get to that point.

Cut out his grass skirt, won't completely wrap around the new body so I'll have to do some more green stuff work to finish it.

So after about 12-16 hours of cutting, filing and swearing I've come up with the following prototype. I still have to do a bunch of green stuff work to finish the head dress and complete the skirt but I think it looks alright. Debating about trying to extend the nose of the head dress . .

I like what you're going for here. I can't believe you have the energy for metal converting... However, but you might have this planeed already, you should change the pose of the Gatorman, currently to similar to the original

I like what you're going for here. I can't believe you have the energy for metal converting... However, but you might have this planeed already, you should change the pose of the Gatorman, currently to similar to the original I kind of liked the new posse leader pose for Calaban, almost maniacal in a way. I do see your point though, it does look very similar. I think once I'm ready to base him I'll do some sort of scenic base so that the raised foot is resting on something to try and differentiate him from the posse bokor. Also paint will help too. I'm still not set on how the staff arm is posed either, might try changing that a bit . . The metal converting wasn't too bad. Using the sticky tack to hold the piece in place allowed me to do some precise cuts at really odd angles on the parts that would have been almost impossible to do holding the piece by hand. Also clean your hobby saw often, bits of the metal will clog up the teeth and catch as you pull the blade through. Most of the work I tried to do with the saw, leaving only the fine details to filing. This is an earlier conversion I did, turning a metal set of gatormen posse into blighted gators for my legion list.
