After playing with the new stone for a month or so, I've found that I almost always am able to max it out and keep it topped up by turn two. Granted, I've been lucky and have been going first a lot, but so far it seems like awaken the stone has gotten rid of the stone's fury crunch. I don't think that's what PP intended, but I'm not complaining.
I think there might be a potential unintended consequence for this though. The other day, I was short on fury starting my turn due to some arcane vortexes, and instead of cutting, I pulled off the stone and used awaken the stone to top it back up. This made me think the new rule might make a single Gargantuan battlegroup more viable. One of the big problems with it has always been if your king goes down, you're suddenly very fury strapped, but with awaken the stone you can now pull from the stone to keep yourself topped up if you lose your king. There's still the transfer problem, but that just requires some restraint.
I haven't actually tested it yet, but I'll give it a try in the next couple months and see how it goes.

I mean, I've been running Madrak1 Glacier King since the CID came out and it works out pretty well. I wouldn't say Awaken the Stone after the GK is dead made that possible - if you lose your Glacier King that's just over 1/3 of your list, how many turns is the game supposed to go after that point without someone getting crushed?

I think the main problem with a single beast in your BG is that if that beast is full, you cant transfer to it. Even if you can generate enough fury to not have to cut yourself, you still have a huge base that isnt allowed to use all its fury, and that is a way more mopey huge base.
Nice catch though. Single gargantuan is possible, especially for low Fury casters, and this makes it better for sure. Just not sure it is worth not bringing that extra light as a transfer bot like i do nowadays...

Well, if you bring Saxon Orrik he could always remove a fury off your Garg after it maxes out. :-P

Bring a Bouncer would be not so bad either, but anyway it seems possible to only run a gargantuan with low FURY warlocks.

Or run the king in PoD with a Dhunia Knot for Serenity. A PoD list with a single beast battle group?
