I mean I understand how the rules work, but it seems really situational. I would appreciate it if someone would point out what I am not seeing. I am just getting back into Warmachine. Right now I play 25 point lists.

Well i think its good when you have a unit with a higher value and a unit to throw away. You remove rubbish models and get your higher rated models back ..

Yeah, sacrifice your Scrap Thralls to return to play Bane Riders or valuable solos and see if it makes your opponent angry He killed your Bane Warriors UA and a handful of Warriors ? Bring the UA back and use the mini feat to bring even more Banes to play, all at the cost of a couple of Scrappies.

Solos cant be brought back, but yeah, pretty much what they said, kill a 0.66pt scrap thrall to bring back a 4pt bane raider for a 3.34pt profit! (And they come back at full health)

(And they come back at full health) Solos can be brought back. The text is "one destroyed non-character friendly Faction warrior model." The next phrase, "Place returned trooper models in formation" is not restrictive--it's a further condition for trooper models, specifically. This means you can bring back solos, weapon attachments, unit leaders, officers, etc., but you can't bring back RFPed models, characters, or models from units that have been completely wiped off the board (because there's no command range for them to return to).

Bringing back solos is one of the best parts of his feat.

Bringing back solos is one of the best parts of his feat. Too bad his favourite theme, Dark Host, doesn't have any good solos to return In the past, Pistol Wraiths or Raider Captains were always fun, or you could still play out of theme for them.

I wouldn’t underestimate him in Infernal machines. A list with multiple units of brute thralls and pistol wraiths would get a lot of benefit from the feat.

I agree, but you lose out on his Tactician ability.
