Hi,
I never played Wurmwood, but all of sudden fell in love with the little cute tree and want to buy and paint him.
I was wondering if there is something like an "average" List or so. Stuff that makes him shine and is autoincluded in every List. Is there a theme that works really well with him? On discount games I only found 1 list post the theme drop which was in the wild hund and I guess that this is not the common theme for him, or is it? If you have any wormwoodlists, that work well feel free to share them here.
Thanks, GoodJazz

Not sure there is a current wurmwood list... Off the top of my head you can:
- Go Bones for stranglehold barrage and get souls with a minion unit and use Sentry Stones. - Go any infantry theme to get souls and get recursion of minions (Devourer's host gets you Gheto, Wild Hunt gets you living and non-living beasts) - Go Call of the Wild like bones but you miss out on sentry stones and geomancy in order to get more hitting power.
Wild hunt is probably cool because you get cheap souls, WoldWyrds and purebloods... Also, you can take a Warden and wurmwood can make a forest for itself...

I think wurmwood fits pretty well into a lot of our themes. It just depends on what you want him to do. Until themageddon i actually ran him out of theme because he is justs o darn good he can do that.... Bones: A mid ranged gunline, with more ays to control heavies than kill them. Stranglehold spam means you can shut down heavies turn by turn and laugh a neat trick:Warden charges a heavy, gets the chain attack, slams away, boosts damage after casting stranglehold and now the heavy cannot move for a whole turn Also, woldwyrds and the fulcrum with him make a nasty gunline when benefiting from curs of shadows. Sentry stone and manikins make the list versatile in its ability to handle infantry and create forests for wurmy to hid behind. Devourers Host: He basically just delivers the army and makes ravagers hit harder. Shove axes into faces.... Wild hunt: Not sure how he fits here honestly. there is potential silliness with tracker and the feat/rapid growth. Call of the wild: A beast brick that hits like a truck and is delivered fairly well. You can cheat trades with rapid growth, feat, and stranglehold. Overall I think bones is best just for raw versatility. You can handle infantry, heavies, and play really strong into scenario.

But no souls... that weakness means it won't be all-synergy, you need to invest in non-BG, non-theme points

Paying 5-8 points for grinders has never crippled the list for me.

Thank you for the replies first of all.
As I read in the LineOfSight battlereports it is the purpose of the bonegrinders to murder each other turn 1 and 2 to create extra fury for Wurmwood, right?
I came up with something like this:
Circle Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] The Bones of Orboros
(Wurmwood 1) Wurmwood, Tree of Fate [+27] - Woldwarden [14] - Woldwarden [14] - Woldwyrd [9] - Woldwyrd [9] - Woldwyrd [9] Blackclad Stoneshaper [0(3)] Blackclad Stoneshaper [3] Blackclad Stoneshaper [3] Blackclad Wayfarer [0(4)] Gallows Grove [2] Gallows Grove [2] Farrow Bone Grinders (min) [5] Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5] Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5] Shifting Stones [3] Celestial Fulcrum [19]
I am not happy with double Gallows Grove (although 3 trees look nice on the board). Does this match the idea? Or is Megalith nessesary?

Not a fan of Fulcrum with Wurmwood... You are giving your opponent something to target on feat turn. I'd replace with Warden+Wyrd/Megalith or some such...
I also think you need max grinders, you need extra bodies for solos I think you have to look at:
- Lanyssa for her feat turn synergy with winter storm. - Alten for Grievous and great banner scoring. - Hutchuck for threat and to contest, perhaps score, far away from your lines. - Totem Hunter

Ok, taking this changes into account it looks like this: conflictchamber.com/#c8201b_-0p5v4QjFjF4H4H4Hg4g45gc94k0V5e5e5fCircle Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] The Bones of Orboros (Wurmwood 1) Wurmwood, Tree of Fate [+27] - Megalith [20] - Woldwarden [14] - Woldwarden [14] - Woldwyrd [9] - Woldwyrd [9] - Woldwyrd [9] Blackclad Stoneshaper [0(3)] Blackclad Stoneshaper [0(3)] Blackclad Wayfarer [0(4)] or Blackclad Stoneshaper [0(3)] Gallows Grove [2] Lanyssa Ryssyl, Nyss Sorceress [4] Farrow Bone Grinders (max) [8] Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5] Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5] Shifting Stones [3] Given that we have 3 meele heavies now and Lanyssa brings Huntersmark, I could replace the Wayfarer with a Stoneshaper, not sure about that.

I like this second one better.

I too like the second list more. But I have played the fulcrum with Wurmy, you plop him on a flank and you'll find it being a target is not that big a deal. Its a really excellent fury management piece and gun platform for him. It adds a extra layer of infnatry removal in the list and also can crack heavies.
Having said that I think having 3 heavies and 4-5 potential boosted strangleholds is amazing.
I can also verify 2 gallows groves is worth it. It allows you to have a bit more fury since you do not need to dark path and the healing and tough removal comes up more than you would think.
I also say take a wayfarer as the 3rd free solo. IME MA7 un-boosted hunters mark needs at least 2 attempts to be relied upon. It also frees up lanyssa to cats winters storm at will and eases decision making fro you. Also remember wayfarers are excellent at clearing infantry and taking flags.
For some perspective this is what I took to Nova and was pretty successful with. Wumry -Pureblood -Megs -2 Wyrds Fulcrum Hutchuck 2 gallows groves min grinders 2 Sentry Stones shifting stones
In bones you can pretty much run the exact same list without the pureblood: Wumrwood: -Megs -Warden -2 Wyrds Fulcrum Shifting Stones Sentry Stones max bone grinders Hutchuck 2 Shapers 2 gallows groves
Hutchuck is an amazing solo. I have had a lot of personal success with him.

Tho goodjazz 2 warden, 3 wyrd, fulcrum list may be better. I would substitute both gallows groves for a mist speaker and the free stoneshaper for a wayfarer.
Something like this: War Room Army
Circle Orboros - Ww3

Wurmwood, Tree of Fate & Cassius the Oathkeeper - WB: +27 - Wurmwood, Tree of Fate & Cassius the Oathkeeper (Cont.) - Woldwarden - PC: 14 (Battlegroup Points Used: 14) - Woldwarden - PC: 14 (Battlegroup Points Used: 13) - Woldwyrd - PC: 9 - Woldwyrd - PC: 9 - Woldwyrd - PC: 9

I tried this one the other week in Wild Hunt. I like it but bringing in Woldwardens to replace the pureblood isn't really an option given that you can't have stone shapers. Missing out on the geo'ed strangleholds is rough but you get other functionality out of the list like tracker assault sprays, really powerful sic'em charges, and plenty of souls to boot. conflictchamber.com/#c8201b_-0q5v4B4M4M4H5j5j5j4S5s5f4U4W4U4WCircle Army - 74 / 75 points [Theme] The Wild Hunt (Wurmwood 1) Wurmwood, Tree of Fate [+27] - Gorax Rager [7] - Pureblood Warpwolf [17] - Pureblood Warpwolf [17] - Woldwyrd [9] War Wolf [2] War Wolf [2] War Wolf [2] Reeves of Orboros (max) [16] - Reeve of Orboros Chieftain & Standard [0(4)] Shifting Stones [3] Wolves of Orboros (max) [11] - Wolves of Orboros Chieftain & Standard [0(4)] Wolves of Orboros (max) [11] - Wolves of Orboros Chieftain & Standard [4]

Are you finding that wurmwood forests help you deliver the wolves in one piece? My issue w wolfsworn theme previously was they die so easy and pow 9 weapon master charge just wasn’t enough. That being said, I had a ton of fun w Mohsar in wolfsworn. I like the 1 wyrd to keep ppl honest with their upkeeps

Ambush + forest was enough in the one game I've had so far vs Haley3 trenchers.
I'll be playing it more and let you know.
