Hi guys!
This last week end i organized a small steamroller. 14 ppl attended, and i played in it myself. I figured id report on the games a bit.
The list i wanted to play was my Grim 1 list with no stone and Brigands. It felt like a fun list that is a bit unusual. It is sort of the definition of a "glass cannon" and that is very much NOT what you usually see from trolls. I had played the list a couple of times, and it was obvious that the list wanted to fight against melee stuff, but not ranged stuff. It is also not a good drop in to ghost fleet, though it might not be as super bad as some other lists. Therefore i brought my trusty Gunnbjorn brawling list to compensate. This list is very strong against shooting and with a bit of luck, any ghost fleet players would smell the RFP tech and drop something else. I doubt it works great against a coven dark host, but with tramples and stuff i might have a chance, who knows?

Game 1: Grim 1 vs Zaal 2 - Breakdown
First game is against Anders. We play often in these small events around Stockholm, and id say we are fairly evenly matched. I have an obnoxious habit of always lucking out some how and winning our games though. When last we played i went for a hail Mary on Kruger 1 that involved a Swamp troll stepping in to a forest to get the 3" LoS, dragging him forward so he was close enough to his objective so my Bomber could boost blast damage on him and Jarl bounced Magic Bullets...
I get to go first this game. He has 30 immortals and some lights, so i am really glad to get to go first. I run as far up as i can so he has to come in to my threat. He responds by running up and NOT feating, hoping he can survive with enough stuff. My brigands on the west flank had preyed his immortals across from them and he chose to run two of his units criss cross to get away from the Brigands.
I decide to not feat this round too. Instead i pour everything i have in to the immortals on the west flank, killing like 7 of them, and not triggering vengeance on any one else. I actually had a blast that rolled 11 on damage on another unit BUT that guy was inside a Krea aura. yes!
He decides to feat this round (though he did it after activating his stuff) and he got a couple of charges with immortals. Like two against a Bomber and two against Brigands. He can not score anything though. Mulg is holding down the east zone against a unit who ran to engage him, and he can not get to the Bomber that is contesting the center zone with meaningful attacks.
I feat this round and try to go to town as much as i can on the west side. I do not do a lot, and kill only kill 4 dudes, but he is controlled and will not get much done next turn either. Mulg actually didnt make attacks, since he would not reach enough of them to be worth triggering vengeance. I actually clear the west zone though since he had not committed enough to that and go to 1-0.
He has vengeance on the middle unit and can walk up to hit my axer with like 6 of them. However, he botches the rolls and i live with ONE box. I think he kills a couple of Brigands with shooting (have only like 4 left after this). The immortals on Mulg ding him up a bit but will not kill him. No scoring here.
I lucked out again... Grim can get MfD on the middle unit of immortals and the Axer kill all of them. I try to clear both the middle and left zones with my bombers and Brigands, and i manage to get both and go to 3-0. Mulg trampled a couple of immortals and killed a few more with the club, but he will die the next round.
He kills Mulg but the whelp i had left and the one i spawned from mulg keep him from scoring. Now he gets to grip with me though and i think he kills the axer and possibly one of the bombers (hakkar is a Female Dog...). I think he scores nothing this round.
I think This round i tried to kill the one extoller that was contesting teh west zone and fail with everything. i did 4 damage to it.
He commits his caster and kills my bomber, and his immortals can score the right zone. His caster is in charge range of a Bomber, but he is camping 5 and he has only 1:30 left. Since it is a tournament game i do the noble thing and run my caster to hide. He will not be able to win on scenario before he clocks.
First game to the Trolls. He was ahead on attrition, and would have been ahead on scenario if we played on, but clock is a thing. I had over 10 minutes left and he had nothing. Not the most fun way to win, and had this been game night i would probably have tried my luck killing his caster, but a tournament is a tournament.
My list felt... OK... ARM 22 infantry is a PAIN to deal with. Even the Bombers failed to break ARM on direct hits, and my brigands who charged needed to roll 13s to kill. NOT fun. Having a stone would have allowed me to be more agressive with Mulg for example. He is WAY harder to kill on ARM 21 than 19, and i wouldnt have had to luck out with the damage rolls against the axer. That was a HUGE swing in attrition. The axer survived and killed 6 dudes. The problem with the stone is that it just doesnt magically appear in your list. I would have had to drop at least 9 points, and that means the Brigands, or the Axer or downgrading a heavy or something like that. It will change the list big time. It allows the list to be more balanced though i think. Now it is much more black and white. I punch really hard, and if they can not punch back, i win. If they can, i lose
The rest of the games will be added later.
