Anyone playing Company of Iron? What are you taking, lots of solos and maybe a cheap unit, or a large unit and maybe a solo to be the commander?

Played twice, like it, still trying out different Things. Last time I tried min Shocktoopers, With CA, MoW kovnik, and max mechanics (24 Points). Worked reasonably well in the scenario With two obje3ctivews and a flag, would have worked better in most of the other scenarios.

A 6 card hand and it was pretty good all round.

I'm wondering about Doomreavers and Greylords, do they have game? The idea of Valachev attached to a unit of Ternion is somewhat amusing to me somehow.

I think everything has game here. With the -2 to hit at long range (over 8 inches) your average Doomie is basically 15/14 at range. With tough they reroll 1s and 2s for their causality roll, and with rise they'll stand up if you rolled a 5-6 at the start of your turn.
Plus berserk.

I've been using Doom Reavers + Escort and a Koldun Lord with Mission Specialist as my Commander. Holds up just fine against shooting.

Cool. Maybe I'll try something similar. I might sub a Widowmaker Marksman for the Koldun Lord though.

I couldn't resist having a 12" radius on Wind Ravager on such a small table, but I would kinda like some more combat ability for a Commander. I'm kinda hoping that they make Fenris four or five points in Company of Iron.

They're actually printing rules for dismounted dragoons in No Quarter Prime. Not sure Fenris has got a four point horse, but I can dream.

I'm not sure most dismounted Dragoons are particularly interesting though? Fenris would give Silence and Pathfinder, so I can see him in a Doomreaver list. The MOW Drakhun does... nothing special? The only other Dragoon I can think of is Catherine Laddermore, and I think she loses all her special rules when dismounted as well.

Cryx has Darragh Wrathe, Menoth has Gravis and Ret has the Fane Knight. I can't think of any dragoons on the Hordes side of the game.
Just thought about Circle's Morraig.

Do any of those models have any particularly useful rules when dismounted though? Not that there's anything wrong with including them just because you have the model, I'm just curious.
