It's life fighting a def 16 heavy that will get to occasionally roll a tough check against huge damage spikes. No big deal.... haha I play trolls too - so as a ret player, I am not quite sure how I would exactly go about it. Maybe best bet is to jam them hard when possible, they are super slow in that list and nothing speeds them up. plop some AOE AFG rough terrain lol bait out feat then send a heavy in there to hit hard. They will most likely be def 16 arm 18 with hit boxes equal to either a light warjack (without any attachments) or a heavy warjack (w/ attachments). Either way, it seems not so fun to play against lol Also - that list doesnt like grievous wounds. lol I hope you aren’t making tough rolls with your heavies, because they don’t have tough

I lost today with Thyron FoW list against local Troll vet with Madrak1:

- The dhunian Knot is bonkers good. Re-rolling Lanyssa hit. Re-rolling bad hit or dmg roll for fully tune-upped heavy. Re-rolling Janissa charge dmg roll. The unit easily gives 2-3 fury each turn (reroll = extra attack). - While Thyron feat and spellpiercer bypass Even ground for one round, the no-charge part of the Madrak feat can't be bypassed. The no-KD part of the Even ground also can't be bypassed in FoW theme, which played a huge part in the game, because MAT6 can easy miss DEF12.

Bored Troll player here. I feel like I should mention that trolls also have the Stone Scribe Chronicler which can add concealment from Tale of Mists onto any unit. So those champs are 14/18 with concealment against ranged and 16/18 in melee. I know Ret has ways around concealment, but it's worth it to remember when you're looking at trying to shoot them down.

Hey everyone. Reporting back after a few games against Madrak 1.
I played Issyria in SotR in a “let’s just see” kind of match. The blessed weapons help get through the DEF. on feat turn I was able to do pretty good damage and almost wipe out one unit of champions. Just not enough heavy hitting through the rest of the game.

His list featured two units on champs and a full unit of fenblades and their support. No warders
The fenblades were the mvps. They caused tons of issues for me with hero’s tragedy.

Oops .. typing on phone.
I was able to partially counter the champs with Hand of Destruction. If i boosted my hits I could get reliable damage on the unit. The covering fires helped a lot too - or would have if I rolled better. Once he starts spreading damage around he does not want to have anything auto - hitting.
I lost on scenario - he scored 3 in a turn by slamming my Phoenix out of a zone and the other flank crumbled to the other unit of champs.
I felt better about the matchup after playing it a few times - though I will say that having a whole unit of sentinels charge and not hit anything is more then a little tilting.

Once I get my Vyros1 list back from the paint shop I think it will be a good matchup. Being able to charge in the Nyss, feat then send in a free charging imperatus at MAT9 POW 19 weaponmaster I feel you could chew through an entire unit. At the same time you could also deal with the Mountain King with the banshee I have in the list and if you dont 1 round it hopefully youve gotten one crit off so the whelps cant heal it up. Just thought I'd mention it, Huge bases are not affected by Grievous Wounds anymore. So it doesn't help against the mountain king, you kinda have to one-round it or ignore it.
