Current testing (Nov 13) in Cryx CID:
"Unyielding - This model gains +2 ARM against melee damage rolls."
Interesting ramifications for Trollbloods?

Makes Grissel 2 stronger for sure. Her feat went from mediocre to... still mediocre but slightly less so

So it basically only affects gunfighters, back strikes, and people with the rule the burrowers lost, typically. Oh, and blast damage. This seems like a corner-case rule change, and I'm curious why they are bothering. I suppose it's nice to not have to wiggle your movement so it can be on for free strikes, but it doesn't seem like it would affect quality of life or the way the game plays particularly.

I particularly like it because its simple in execution. It just applies all the time for melee attack damage rolls. None of this am I engaging you or are you engaging me nonsense.

Yeah, that seems fairly useless in the big picture. Maybe change it to +3 as well, or something more significant.

I suppose there is that. I'm not sure about how I feel about a faction that has a theme list that gives all its jacks carapace getting field marshal Unyielding from Gaspy, though. There is counterplay to the old version, there isn't (aside from bringing guns) to the new one. Simplicity is nice, but I'm not sure it is with sacrificing the ability to counteract the rule, even though I loved it on the kithkar.

Erm, the most important change is that you get the +2 regardless of the opponent's melee range. This is huge, especially for something like grisel's feat.

It's actually a slight nerf to the ability. It's +2 ARM vs. Melee, where it used to be +2 ARm while engaging. That means you no longer get the +2 against ranged attacks made against you while in melee.
So slight buff to Jarl and his black penny shots?

Makes Grissel 2 stronger for sure. Her feat went from mediocre to... still mediocre but slightly less so :D Mostly, but a little weaker against shooting, where she struggles anyway. One might not think so, given that she has Deflection, but no real gun line cares about that. I still like Grissel 2 a lot but lately, it feels like everything she does just gets countered one way or another, and any given list has another warlock who would probably run it better.

I would prefer "Unyielding: This model gains +2 ARM when engaging or engaged by an opposing model"
Still pretty simple, works even against Sea King/Kraken/Karybdis/Swamp Horror/MHA, etc 4" melee attacks. Doesn't work when stationary or KD. Works against e-leaps, blasts, magic-bullets, etc.
'+2 ARM against melee attacks' isn't really a significant beneficial thing, unless a model is ARM 18+, and multi-wound. So, this CID proposal is a benefit to Warbeasts/Warjacks/MoWs with Unyielding (ie Grissel2's battlegroup warbeasts)

I like your idea Joedj. Are you on the CID or should someone propose it for you?

What gun line wouldn’t care about +2 def? I mean... i understand they likely can boost to hit, but it dramatically effects stats and resources.

I like your idea Joedj. Are you on the CID or should someone propose it for you? Currently watching Cryx CID, I own Cryx but just don't have the time (away from my Trollbloods) to test with sufficient repetition(s). Hoping Kharybdis and Bloodgorgers (more Trollbloods!) come out shiney!

Where are you getting +2 DEF from? Ha! I’m combining two conversations about Grissel2 here. I saw the comment about gun lines dealing with deflection in the other thread and carried my animosity over to this one where I’m also seeing +2 arm being given no love. If you keep a unit of Fennblades in the stone, in command and give them unyielding from the feat that makes for some sad dice!
