Hi everyone
I just wanted to rant a little about the caster that’s given me the most problems in mark 3. One that uses a theme to really get powerful benefits. No not Denny in ghost fleet. I’m talking about Ossrum in Irregulars.
If he could only do one thing well I’d be fine but the advance move on heavies means that he threatens all 3 aspects of the game very well.
Tactician and bulldoze plus pathfinder on his feat puts scénario at risk.
Lots of boosted shooting threatens assassination.
The speed boost and armour from feat combine to swing attrition strongly.
Rhulic jacks being unpushable also randomly messes with stuff.
So are you too having these problems? Join in! Share your pain!

We don’t have a ton of discussion in here so I just though I’d post something to see if it got people talking.
Lately I’ve played Helynna LoD and Issyria SotR Into Ossrum. Helynna is a 50/50. Issyria is ... not good in this matchup.

The gun bunnies do so much scenario work with bulldoze.
Savin gets dodge and thunders into a flank. He can easily wipe out a unit of MHSF.

So he's only got 2 sprays? I think Ossyan in Shadows should at least have game. Use Manticores covering fire to avoid the Forgeguards, use your MHSF to kill the bunnies. Don't get greedy on feat turn and you should be fine.
Not sure about Elara2 in Defenders, but I think you out threat him so should be fine as well.

Manticore covering fire doesnt do much. He feats and charges through. Having tactician allows his forge guard to remain in base contact the whole time so they’re arm 21.

I’m not looking at specific list dissection. This version has 2 sprays. It can easily have more.
MHSF do very little to arm 21 bunnies.

My only experience with Ossrum and the Gun Bunnies was quite awhile ago before all of the themes were released but the list I played into it was Kae in what would now be considered Defenders with Halbs and Nyss Hunters. It actually worked quite well, end result was an assassination victory. I feated to set up the Alpha then dropped backlash onto a jack. Next turn Halbs went in on the backlashed jack then Phantom Huntered Kae, strips his focus and Hydras finish him off.

I’ve found Kae to be particularly susceptible to Ossrum as her feat turn stealth gets stripped and then she gets a sniped eyriss followed by fire for effect artillery.

That does seem like a logical playing out of that game, its quite likely that our local merc player simply played it poorly as all of my experiences worked out fairly well in favor of Kae.

Manticore covering fire doesnt do much. He feats and charges through. Having tactician allows his forge guard to remain in base contact the whole time so they’re arm 21. How does that work, unless you're dropping covering fires RIGHT on the leading edge of the unit? Each model still has to move individually...so unless there's a line of forge guard leading up to the covering fire, they all have to be outside B2B on entering it.

It could be managed by having one activate and run up to the very edge of the template and then stopping. The rest run through him to help take the hit. You lose one guy that is now just standing in the back but if you think its the difference between them living and not it could be worth it.

doing that heavily constrains his movement. It works but is not optimal and eats a lot of movement on his part.
Stormfall archers are great vs gunbunnies and dwarfs as are sentinels. Just keep plinking damage onto him over time and you can come out ahead. The issue with ossrum is that he just doesn't have the quantity of attacks to actually clear your army out.
I used either ossyan with guns or kaelyssa with double sentinels to good effect. Ossyan had some issues surviving against the guns but a def19 kaelyssa just doesn't care about gun bunnines. Both lists can hit hard over multiple rounds and drop the dwarf jacks/infantry well.

Going off buyorboost numbers, FFE cycling HAC's and 6 bunnies have a 55.5% chance to kill def19 Kaelyssa assuming none of them get to aim, so "doesn't care" is a bit strong. Watch out for siege crawlers.
