Game two with the Fire Eaters list. I played into the Troll mirror. My opponent dropped his Kolgrima list he wanted to test out using Nyss in POD.
The Scenario was Recon II. I won the roll and chose first. I placed my Snow Drifts side by side in the right zone on my flag.

Turn 1:
I light the Fire Eaters (FE) with the Feralgeist and Pyre. FE run into Snow Drifts toeing the zone. Jarl puts Quicken on the Champs and dumps four into the Stone. Champs run their 16” and position behind the house in the middle of the table (staying towards to right side of the house). Bomber and Rok position towards the left zone with Rok being more central. The Stone did +1 SPD before the Champs went. It riled up for one Fury.
Kolgrima moves up and places four clouds blocking LOS to her entire army. Nyss run up into the right zone. He leaves a few more forward to bait the FE. The Earthborn (EBDT) and Mauler position towards the left zone. He parks his Feralgeist on his flag. The Bouncer sits next to the Feralgeist.
Turn 2:
Fire stays on all of the FE. I force tough checks on four of them and actually pass them all. The FE walk up and spray down five Nyss. The Champs run 14” across to the left zone. Jarl walks up and Feats, I get five clouds. I block LOS to my entire army using four clouds. Since I had an extra cloud, I placed it directly in front of the EBDT in the left zone. Rok runs to the right zone staying out of Mulg’s trample. I drop two into the Stone this turn and they rile to full.
Kolgrima realizes he can not damage any of my warriors with her sprays and is sad. The Nyss charge the FE and kill two. He runs the Runeshapers up to block walk and hit range for the Champs on the EBDT. Kolgrima places two clouds to block LOS for the Champs on the left and one for Rok on the right. He contests my flag and scores his. He Feats and catches everything but the Bomber. 0-1
Turn 3:
Fire goes out on two FE and causes a tough on the third. He survives. I walk two Champs up and splat the Runeshapers. I keep the rest of the unit back to counter strike whatever comes in to kill them. I run the FE to engage Mulg on the right. I put Magic Bullet on the Bomber with the Runebearer and Quicken him with Jarl. I forget to drop two Fury somewhere. Bomber walks out wide and takes a shot at the Bouncer, popping the Feralgeist with Magic Bullet. The Gobbers walk up and drop a cloud in front of Rok who walks just behind it still out of Mulg trample range (but in charge range now). I score my flag. 1-1
Kolgrima runs/charges the Nyss into Rok to block him from charging. The Runebearer Slaves Cursed Fate onto the Champs. I positioned the Champ Hero poorly last turn and he is able to get a Charge with the EBDT into him. Splat goes the Hero. He spends the rest of his attacks (buying to full Fury) and leaves all the Champs on three boxes. The Mauler walks over and spends everything leaving the Champs all on one box. They live! The Bouncer charges a Champ and whiffs both initials. He chooses not to buy anymore attacks with the Bouncer. He move the Shaman up and teleports him into the middle of the Champs to engage them.
Mulg kills the two FE blocking him in. Kolgrima sprays down the two Gobbers and sits behind Mulg. He contests my flag with one Nyss. 1-1
Turn 4:
I see a potential assassination on the table with Rok Swift Huntering off an Assault on Mulg and the Runebearer into Kolgrima. First I have to Frenzy check my Bomber (oops). He fails and runs into the forest in the left zone trying to get the EBDT. He doesn’t get there.
I use the Fell Caller to give Champs +2 MAT and aims to spray down Nyss in melee with Rok. He hits both Rok and the Nyss killing the Nyss and tickling Rok. The Pyre walks up and Boosts a shot downing the last Nyss. Runebearer Magic Bullets Jarl. Jarl Far Strikes himself. He shoots the Mauler which gets Shield Guarded to the Bouncer. I Magic Bullet the Shaman in the middle of my Champs causing a Tough roll. He passes and is knocked down (yay). The second shot connects on the Mauler and I Magic Bullet the Stone leader causing a tough. He fails. No more Stone.
Rok’s time to shine. He charges Mulg Assaulting Mulg and the Runebearer behind him. I am playing very risky here because a Crit Slam poops in my Cheerios. I hit both Mulg and the Runebearer trigger the counter attack and a Tough check on the Runebearer. Mulg whiffs and the Runebearer passes the Tough. Sad day. I had boosted both Attack and Damage into the Runebearer so I have three Fury to kill Mulg. Rok does it on the Third bought attack.
After the failed Swift Hunter attempt it is now time for the Champs to do work. The Stone gives +2 STR. The Champs charge both the EBDT and the Mauler. I get three successful charges into the EBDT and two unsuccessful into the Mauler (not boosted but still able to hit). I start on the Mauler. The two Champ kill him on the last attack. It only takes three attacks (one charge from Skaldi, one charge from a Champ, and a regular attack from a Champ) to kill the EBDT. The the attack from Skaldi get redirected to the Shaman killing it. I go up one point from the Feralgeist on my flag. 2-1
He concedes as he only has Kolgrima, one Nyss, the Bouncer, and the Stone Grunts left. We try to roll sprays on Jarl to see if he can kill him as I’m camping one and he can make four sprays. His hits all four and leaves Jarl on six boxes after transferring the last spray.
Thoughts:
Jarl is growing on me. I’m still making mistakes but those will iron out as I play the list more. I’m anxiously awaiting the Battle Bears to swap out the FE for. I do more damage to those guys than my opponent does. The Bears seem like they will do the same job but better.
Magic Bullet is still one of my favorite parts of Jarl’s kit. It takes a lot of positioning on my opponent’s part and I still can get cheeky angles on key support models.
Champs running 16” turn one is so good. Running another 14” to reposition from one zone to the other is also good. I’m very happy with them.
Jarl’s Feat has saved my butt in both games. I actually got to use the -2 attack rolls this game and my opponent really felt the pressure from it.
I need to start taking pictures if I’m going to be writing these so you guys can see the scenario.
