Hey everyone,
I just wanted to get the climate of what you guys are dropping for tournaments! I am going to playing in a tournament next weekend and I wanted to try debuting trolls.
Just wondering though, who have you guys been bringing lately?
A side question is - are people still playing Ragnor? I feel like I am seeing less and less of him (and trolls in general pre-cid to be fair) in the tournament scene.

Sounds like Madrak1(post cid)/2, Doomie2/3, Grissel2, and Gunnbjorn are the most played from what I've read.
I am a big fan of Horgle2 and Calandra as well. I don't think after CID and the Northkin releases we have a terribad caster anymore.

Oh and I think Ragnor is totally viable. Just lots of new shinies for people.

Sure Double Bomber World work also really good with grissel2. Or grissel2 as an infantry caster in boh or sotn . We got so many options nowadays.

Played this last night vs. Grymkin Wanderer. Pretty nasty. Assassination win on turn 2.
If your opponent's warnoun isn't Steady, and is positioned within ~ 17" of Grissel/Bombers/Slag it can be a really quick end, especially with the three re-rolls available. Redundant Maulers 'cause every one of my opponents-in-venue know to go after the Mauler especially when there's only ONE. Slag, one more boostable gun, and is an OK Discord target, since he's Assaulting in. Lanyssa for the free charge + 2", re-rolled when required. Swamp Gobbers for LOS block as needed, or a cheap unit to make a grab at a RECT-zone.
[Theme] The Power of Dhunia (Grissel 2) Grissel Bloodsong, Marshal of the Kriels [+27] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Slag Troll [10] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)] Lanyssa Ryssyl, Nyss Sorceress [4] Troll Whelps [0(4)] Troll Whelps [0(4)] Dhunian Knot [6] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (max) [9] - Stone Scribe Elder [3] Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew [2]
Is it tournament quality? I hate to say, doubtful(?) I don't see that she provides a Feat/spells/tricks that require an opposing 'answer', other than keeping distances premeasured.

joedj I like that list I would just play an Axer instead of the Slag and Janissa instead of the second batch of Whelps. Janissa can place her hill under models now and you can use the elevation to see over models. On the feat turn, Grissel can step onto the hill, shoot, repo away and leave room for the first Bomber, who in turn can repo away so the second one can use the hill also.

Slag, for me, is another PoD boostable gun at 16" range when I need it (Assault + 8"). Also credible threat, or cheap-ish lure, against Warjacks when Rage-d. Axer, for me, just provides threat range to a weak-attacking Dire (no Rage). Lanyssa gives me that 2", an 'extra' Fury, and a Rage enabled Slag/Dire. Yeah 4" is better, but if I want that list I'm goin' Doomie2.
Janissa was a thought, and a better one I think! (Though I wanted to see if I'd burn through all the Whelps too fast, I did not). With Janissa, the Bombers can be B2B, and presto, elevator up! both are seein' the field. Also, keeping them on her hill makes DEF 16 Bombers vs ranged/magic attacks (+2 elevation, +2 Gobber cloud) <-- Kinda funny, like the DEF 16 Mulg I played with Calandra last night, Star Crossed 18"=silly good

The axer provides +2" to the bombers too though, and allows them to operate in forests...

And you better believe that 19" with Pathfinder threat makes the opposition much, much more cautious than 17".

I agree 19 inch threat makes opponents very cautious.
And I never play my bombers next to each other, but sort of flanking my army.
Unless the opponents war caster is placed to the far left or right during deployment, you can reach them with both bombers
The advantage is that you can get around the center obstruction and other los blocking stuff with at least one bomber if not both
If you place your bombers next to each other they can easily be los blocked by your opponents placement of his models or using los blocking clouds etc.
