I'd prob run with electrical themed in DI with 5 mods conflux and the rest...and pair him with Lucant DI or legion not sure exactly yet...but I know electro themed not popular yet...

Same here I played the janky 5 x Modulator + Conflux list a couple of times with Syntherion and enjoyed it. But with Orion the list is much better, maybe even tournament viable. Can't wait to test it out! Happy to see he kept his RAT of 5. But would be really nice with 29 Warjack points - for the 5 free solos in DI + 2 ADOs

Rat 7 if he picks the +2 rat config...playing with rat 7 in convergence is gonna feel amazing...will be interesting playing against storm division and using the electric immunity to drag the fight to melee and just have the the conflux threat extend and use Orions feat for bumping melee attacks...it may provide diff gears to play with ...if Orion can survive hanging back till feat turn....we will see...

Orion -Corollary -Assimilator x3 -Diffuser x2 -Inverter -Monitor ADO Optifex Elimination x3 Reflex
I'm not a fan of either modulators or prime conflux. Rat 7 ground pounds on the other hand are amazing.

Do you think 1 Arc node is enough to apply his feat properly? 1 random AOE could kill him and that leaves Orion sad..

My plan is to mainly play him into Cryx and hordes where I don't need forced induction as much. If I wanted to play him into Khador or protectorate more than I'd probably try to get a 2nd or 3rd arc node.

After a few games I had to remove the monitor. Orion seems perfectly suited to buff the monitor more than any other caster and it still wasn't good enough. Anything else would be better with those points.

Yeah, I am not surprised... Crit effects sucks tbh. What do you plan to replace him with? Another Assimilator?

It wasn't even just the crit effect. It felt like the monitor took better advantage of mage sight because assimilators can't ground pound inside mage sight. The free ranged attacks seemed better with the monitor because of true sight. But the fact that it's only one shot and the same pow as an assimilator is what did the poor fella in. Maybe one day he'll get some tweaks. Next I'm going to try a cipher with him. A free flare shot at the beginning of a turn can set up some nice interactions with Orion's switching Rat/Mat. A big part of my turn to turn was figuring out which jacks were going to use his current configuration and which would wait until after he activates to switch configurations. The cipher can also double as a melee beatstick that's decently hard to kill as the game goes on.

Interesting I like the Cipher as well, for its utility gun, relative hight P+S and 2 initials. Would you consider a Prime Axiom with Orion? Free RAT 7 drag shot is also good in a pinch..

The problem with the axiom is that you don't get the 3 inch move from avenging force. That means the opponent would have to leave a target perfectly in range of where the axiom already is. You're unlikely to get very good drags out of the free shot. You're also missing out on repo 3 with the axiom and the axiom usually wants to do melee and range both in a single activation. That can be pretty awkward because mat 4 is bad, so he'd need to be mat 6/rat5 most activations which limits how Orion wants to configure for his other jacks. I think you could certainly make a list with an axiom, but I'd either go three huge bases with an axiom and two TEP or I'd go in clockwork legions with infantry for the rest of the list. It would have fewer jacks that want the rat 7, but Orion has enough out of battlegroup support that it would probably work. It's not the anti-infantry gunline I'm trying to build with him though.

Yeah I sort of agree, but: Scenario often forces your opponent to step into zones to contest. If your Prime Axiom is 1 inch into any zone he can get a free shot at the contesting piece, getting it closer to your force. That is worth something imo. Don't forget sustained attack either. By boosting 1 of your initials you should be fine with the MAT4, since you have 2 RAT7 chances to drag in the heavy.
If the Monitor is not the best jack for Avenging Force, then which Jack is?
Have you played Orion in Clockwork Legions? I'd be interested in your list. All my lists seems very mediocre to other casters..

Your opponent is usually going to contest with cheap, single wound models. An assimilator or monitor doesn't even need to be in the zone to take them out for free because they get the 3 inch move. Honestly, I think Orion is the best model to take advantage of avenging force. It doesn't have to be a jack. I was moving around Orion and messing with enemy formations during my maintenance phase. I'm not sure what a clockwork legions list would look like with him. He supports reductors and perforators in their preferred roll. Reductors get 3 dice attacks on their sprays against infantry and perforators get 3 dice on damage for their armor piercing shots against jacks. He doesn't do anything to protect them though. In that theme he feels like Issyria where you have to get a ton of work done on his feat turn otherwise you're going to end up losing on attrition. Even with enigma foundries I don't think it's enough to survive attrition wise. I might actually bring a conflux or a swarm of diffusers just to give the infantry extra ranges on charges. So probably a unit of advance move obstructors, a unit of reductors, 1-2 units of perforators, corollary, conflux, enigma foundries and arc nodes. So something like conflictchamber.com/#cc201b_-0SjBdBg5dCdCdEdEdqdwdwdsConvergence Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Clockwork Legions !!! Your army contains a pre-release entry. (Orion 1) Eminent Configurator Orion [+28] - Corollary [6] - Prime Conflux [37] Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex [2] Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex [2] Enigma Foundry [0(4)] Enigma Foundry [0(4)] Obstructors (max) [11] Perforators (max) [16] Perforators (max) [16] Reductors (max) [13] It tries to do as much work on feat turn as possible and the advance move obstructors can help screen for the more important models behind them. Obviously I've never ran this and it may just be me trying to get work out of perforators so they're not just collecting dust in my bag.
