Eh, I threw up enough of a fuss about him being able to have 7 in whichever stat he chose so they changed that eventually. Was it op or did you just raise a fuss?

Bordering on OP but it was more "Let's just keep giving this faction toys because of its "Thematic". That indeed he could run a Melee force just as well as a ranged one, or more worse do both at once better then the rest of the gang. This still seriously BUGS me how much future faction development is limited by the Creators imaginations into what limits as "Thematic". This is a big reason why Skorne suffered for very long for instance.

When you release a caster that for all intents and purposes makes it so that other caster are less feasible because this one can run both ranged and mellee effectively. He has to have something he doesn't do well so that he isn't just the obvious choice during list building.

No, there were a bunch of folks throwing up a fuss. Mostly people talking with little or no table experience, IMHO. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of thoughtful insight during the CID process, I just found the 5/5 base stat discussions highly peppered with theorymachine, "but he makes Axis redundant", etc. I played him with the base 5/5 stat, and I didn't find him OP. He added more complexity to the (already convoluted) CoC order of activation sequence. It was difficult to get full use out of the 7/7 state. Axis I find to be a board control caster. Orion is a combined arms caster. There is very little overlap. Cutting Orion to 4/5 wasn't the work of one person. Unlike getting Orion into CID in the first place, which was all me.
