I'd rather have Ashen Veil as an animus, but the wicker man's animus would be fun. Or a *attack combustion like the castigator has. We already have a better version of it on the swamp troll. It's literally the exact same wording except ignores immunity to fire. Though I agree, castigator attack was another idea for it. Eh... true, I guess what I really want is for us to have more animi that aren't RNG SELF.

As long as we're wishing,a character light swamp troll with bounding leap would be hilarious and maybe not entirely broken. Sure, just go all in on the frog thing. Why not? But who's character would it be? I don't think there's anybody with a swampy theme in our stable of casters. Grim? Pretty sure it would be Jarl's character beast as in the fluff he always seems to run with one.

Because they have basically said as much in the past Can you cite a source on that? I don't keep up on the dev talks too much. I think that there's plenty that could be done. Elemental Heavies are an option, light trolls with higher tech weapons, an armored dire troll (think clamjack but blue and angry). If they gave us a new chassis to build off of that would open up a lot of space as well. I've seen a "young dire troll" chassis discussed before. I don't have a source, I remember reading something of the sort many years ago, on the PP forums. I pseudo excuse to why we had the least amount of heavy warbeast in all of hordes factions. I doubt I heard it from anyone of note. And to begin with, I love trolls, but a little bit of diversity never hurts

Rather than Bears I'd prefer they make Mulg into a chassis. Ancient Dire Trolls with speed 4 def 10 arm 19 and more esoteric Troll Elder abilities rather than the weapon or elemental themes. Maybe even base str 13 like Mulg.

Maybe even base str 13 like Mulg. I worry that would lead towards additional expensive heavies and I think we need cheaper heavies instead. Like something useable in the 11-13 pt. range.

Easy to hand out to the front line on the way in.... i’m Intrigued for sure.

My original idea for Ragnor's character beast was an Earthborn with Geomancy. I also had an idea for another Gargantuan called "The Rune King" that was a combination of Sacral vault, Mountain King, and Krielstone. I'll have to see if I can dig that idea up.

Maybe even base str 13 like Mulg. Mayabe a 3 part multikit of Ancient dire troll goodness. 1st Beast: 12 point model with a krielstone etched into its back. Not really good offensive capabilities on its own. Its animus could give a defensive or offensive benefit of some sort like the elder. It never frenzies but is only Fury 3. Big meaty fists and SR 12 but only mat 5. 2nd Beast: 14 Point Model: It has geomancy at magic 6 and its animus creates rough terrain with 5" for enemy models only. Same melee weapons and Fury 4. 3rd Beast: 18 Point Model: Has 2 massive stone shields covering its hands and arms (like a growth) acts like the khador clamjacks. Arm 19 with S13 and Pow 4 on the shields. Animus is Roadblock. Under Krielstone he would be Arm 25 at all times unless you hit him with a chain weapon.

I'm loving these ideas. There's so much room to explore in the "really big and scary trolls" before you jump to kings.

I've got some ideas for elemental heavies since, y'know, why not? All of them are P+S 15, DEF 12, ARM 18 and FURY 4.
Thunderhead Troll: Fists and RNG 10 gun with electroleap (fists and gun both have it). Animus is a COST 2 spell that places a 3" cloud, only once per turn.
Lava Troll: crit fire fists. RNG 8 fire spray with continuoCs fire and assault. Animus lights nearby enemies on fire.
Toxin Troll: Three initials (claw, claw, bite) with crit poison. Immunity to corrosion Maneater for free charges. Animus gives immunity: corrosion and places a 3" scather template on the model for 1 round.
Tundra Troll: Like Rok but cheaper. Immunity: cold, crit stationary on fists, 6" Frost spray with assault. Animus creates difficult terrain within 3" of model unless creature has immunity: cold.
Abyssal Dire Troll: Eyeless sight, stealth, three initials with crit paralysis, claws have reach. Ghostly as an animus.
Not a bad quartet I think.

honestly they have plenty of design space with making heavies of our lights and lights of our heavies, how are they "out of ideas"? where's our gorax? why is our tax troll 15 points? make a 7 point rage troll (or primal troll I won't judge) and call it a day.
where's our troll shaman, that can force to cast friendly troll animi in it's CMD?
and hell yeah bears are fine too; 40mm bear with rage, 50mm bear with frost spray and chiller is fine by me. northkin beasts, higher spd, lower arm, pathfinder.

Dire Troll Picked-Up-An-Axe-Guy
Same stats as a Mauler but furry 4 and one 2" P+S 17 Animus - Something shitty to keep cost down. 12 points.
