also have to keep brine within 12" of rorsh or I cant boost. Super long threat range is good, but only if I can capitalize on it.

I missed the 12" in his post; my bad! I was mistaken and thinking the issue was the 6" control, but you are absolutely right.

Sorry for any confusion! My first time using them a few weekends ago had me really watching that range and there were a few times I could have gotten out of range but thankfully didn't because of it. The 12" range is better than any other lesser warlock, but with all the movement shenanigans I can do, it still feels almost limiting.

Try putting a Battle Boar on him (for the sweet sweet Primal), and remembering that one has 12" and the other has 6" effective control area

Don't sell yourself short bro! Just find someone else to blame instead, it's the human way.

I'm hopping in here and looking at the stuff you guys are throwing out, because I too am looking for stuff to Bring with Ashlynn. I haven't lost with her yet, but I am still looking at improvements. I was wondering though, would Cylena Raefyll and Nyss Hunters be worth the 12/19 points with her? UInder quicken, they go up to DEF16 against shooting and magic, they go to SPD9, giving them an 18" run or a 12" charge with weaponmaster.

I've tried it before and my thought is that it doesn't address the thing that kills them: blast damage. If you can deliver the Nyss hunters, great, but then they are back to def 14 and quicken didn't really make the difference. I feel like it makes sense on paper, but it never worked on the tabletop for me.

Late to the party, sorry...
Wouldn't the Mk2 Ashlynn theme be a good place to start?
Ashlynn d’Elyse – Viva La Résistance Models allowed: Mercenary non-character warjacks, Precursor Knights, Captain Sam MacHorne &The Devil Dogs, Dannon Blythe & Bull, Anastasia di Bray, Gorman di Wulfe, Harlan Versh, Madelyn Corbeau, Rhupert Carvolo, Rutger Shaw, or Taryn di la Rovissi.
Tier 1: Requirements: Only the models listed. Benefit: This army can include non-character Cygnar Arcane Tempest Gun Mage units and Cygnar Gun Mage Captain Adept solos. These units are considered to be friendly Mercenary modes instead of Cygnar models and can include attachments.
Tier 2: Requirements: Anastasia di Bray and Taryn di la Rovissi. Benefit: You can redeploy solos after both players have deployed but before the first player’s first turn. The redeployed models must be placed on the table in a location they could have been deployed initially.
Tier 3: Requirements: Ashlynn’s battlegroup includes two or more Vanguard warjacks. Benefit: Model’s in Ashlynn’s battlegroup gain Advance Deployment.
Tier 4: Requirements: Two Arcane Tempest Gun Mage units. Benefit: Add a unit attachment to one Arcane Tempest Gun Mage unit free of cost. This unit attachment ignores FA restrictions.
ATGM seem to not be available but Thorn will do that job. Major Gibbs and Gaston are in the must have category

I think the big things that we see that are different are:
1. Vanguards are now way too expensive (as opposed to being quite cheap before) 2. mk3 is significantly more weighted towards Jack/Beast spam than mk2
Also, this was never one of the theme lists that was lighting the world on fire (as far as I can recall). I think it's actually a really good point though. The things we see as problems were always there, the game just changed around her and she wasn't top tier to begin with.

Having played against Ashlynn and vanguards a lot, I can say that both Ashlynn and Vanguards are very good if you know what you are doing. Gallows in very good against jack spam. Ashlynn + Admonition + concealment (from Rhupert) + 2 Vanguards is incredibly annoying battlegroup to remove.

Keeping a larger base around Ashlynn is one of the easiest back doors to killing her that you can leave open for your opponent. A slammed vanguard = a dead Ashlynn, and she has no real need for shield guards, aside from auto KD guns with low deviation rolls. Plus, at 11 pts, they are the same cost as a nomad or more expensive than the (limited) Rengade, Driller, or Freebooter.
