I would like to play B3, Irusks, sorschas, or maybe Zerkova. I will be putting them together and painting the lists slowly but was wondering who generally covers each other well. I was leaning towards Irusk2 and Sorscha 2 or B3 and Sorscha 2. I know themes will put a wrench in things but warcaster wise I'm trying to come up with two lists to buy.

Hi! Welcome to the bestest faction! Butcher3 and Sorscha2 sort of cover the same things through both having RFP. But, I think they can be built in different enough ways to play them as a pairing. Irusk2 is an excellent caster who is probably best aiming towards a Jaws of the Wolf or Legion of Steel list. I would lean towards Winter Guard Kommand with Butcher3, that works very well. Zerkova1 is great in Legion of Steel and Zerkova2 will almost certainly like the new greylord theme (Wolves of Winter..?) when it drops later. Irusk1 is probably Legion of Steel or Winter Guard Kommand right now, though he might work well in the greylord theme too. Overall, I'd wait a couple of hours until the remaining themes drop, then work from there. But hopefully that gets you started a little Cheers, Dave

Hello and welcome!
Are you a generally a competitive player? How much Warmachine experience do you have?
I feel that themes tend to encourage players to take multiples of the same model or unit, while I would think that it would serve a new player well to pick up a wider variety of models to learn what different things do, so I don't know if themes are the best place to start to learn a new faction... except that they help you to win thanks to theme benefits, so... I dunno whether it's better to start with themes or not.
Either way, have fun, and good luck.

Good shout Soul Samurai, it's probably better to start out of theme and pick up a range of models.
Cheers, Dave

Welcome! I will agree as well! I should also point out if you haven't played much warmachine before, you might want to start playing at battle box level and keep going up in point values (BB, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75). Try and play 15 to 20 games at each level before moving on to the next one. It might feel like kind of a slog, but it's great for learning all the little nuances of all the models you pick up!

You should think in terms of themes. WGK supports a lot of casters and can cover a lot depending on caster.

Should of mentioned I do currently play we just don't have any Khador players so I don't see them at all. Thinking Irusk2 and Sorscha2 then, I love the way they look. (B3 was in the group but Sorscha seems to be the go to for most RFP answers) Any advice for an Irusk2 list with pikemen? I have always loved them and Irusk with them is where I want to start.

You'll want to have 2 pikemen units, 1 uhlans, great bears, 2 kovniks, Markov and 2 magnetized Juggy chassis at 75. It's better to start with 1 pikemen unit + great bears I think, then add Uhlans and 1 kovnik, then the rest. Battlegroup can be varied between 2x destroyers, 2x juggies or 1 of each.
Keep in mind B3 or S2 don't synergize with pikemen list. Zerkova works well, though.

I run a legion of steel list that is Irusk2, two units of Black dragons, one of IFP. Two kovniks , markov, and the great bears round out the infantry, with two destroyers added in. It's brutal. You can keep everything in the 10 inch bubble around Irusk2 and keep scenario going. You're likely to succeed on a decent number of tough rolls, because you get to make so many. There is no knockdown either, so you can just keep toughing, Mark II style!

Based on the above if you can grab an All in One Box Khador Army 2017 then do so. It will fit perfectly into the builds that are suggested above.

Thanks for all of the help, I did grab the all in one. At first glance the black dragons look better to with the play style I think I will use. (Try and go second pop mini feat after hopefully scoring bottom of two and repeat) I think regular pines seem better if you are trying to get out in front of scenario and jam them with someone like strak3. Is this sound logic? I am also curious why the uhlans and not more jacks or pikemen? (I have seen lists with them I am just curious.)

Pikemen vs dragons come down to what color do you like more, red or black, the rules differences are negligible.
Uhlans are for having a long threat unit to have a shot at alphaing stuff.

I've seen a few variations of Irusk2 but liked this one, I'm not sure about Uhlnas but I'll give them a go. The Sorscha2 list I used concepts I've seen but added things I thought would be good. I would like to get all of this ordered, is there any glaring weakness I am missing? Having zero experience with IFP I'm not sure if that list could handle full on jack spam but it looks promising on paper.

Consider Ragman in place of wardog, he'll be great for pikes.
I'd take melee jacks for wgk since shooting is already covered by infantry. Though if you magnetize it won't matter much. Ayana and Holt need Valachev attachment to work properly.
