Blockhouse is not the first model in mk3 to reference structures despite there being, until now, no actual rukes for structures. I'd habe to check to be certain, but top of mind, siege1, maurauder I think. Didn't Marauders get changed to the extra dice against huge bases because people were complaining that there were no structures? Could be, i'd have to go back and check to be certain. Even if it did change, at one point it did reference Structures, a rule moniker / model type that did not actually exist at MK3 deployment. Now that said, no issue with future proofing things, but again, Blockhouse != first model to reference a structure.

At first the Marauders got an additional die against structures. It was very fluffy, but everyone went "This is stupid!" and couldn't be bothered with waiting for structures to appear. At the same time, Marauders were considered "Meh..." (This was before the Unholy Nerfstorm of Doom created by the Karchev / 14x Mad Dog Spam Army.) so PP decided to spice up the Marauder and future proof the Marauder by changing the additional die against structure to an additional die against huge bases. When that happened the less observant players said "That's still stupid" and the Khador players said "Hold my beer."

Before the marauder buff players were starting to take multiple in lists due to their points cost. Then after the buff there was no question about it. It was dumb. Siege 1 still has his shitty rule regarding structures. They could make it a field marshal and it still wouldn't dogganm matter.

Siege 1 still has his shitty rule regarding structures. They could make it a field marshal and it still wouldn't dogganm matter. Keep in mind the change for the Marauder happened long before the nerfs happened to the Berserker / Mad Dog / Rager. At the time of the Marauder change the primary spam warjacks for Khador were the Mad Dog and the Berserker and the Marauder was only getting a little attention by the Khador players. Back then if you wanted to spam warjacks you spammed Berserkers and Mad Dogs, and if you wanted a beat stick you took Juggernauts. You had a couple of odd balls (like me) that prized the Marauder for being a control piece with the Combo Slam, and some players put one or two in their lists, but at that time a lot of players just ignored the Marauder. Then the Karchev / Mad Dog Nerf Storm hit. Not only did the nerf storm neuter Karchev's feat and make the Mad Dog unusable, it made the Berserker and the Rager not worth their points. With those jacks no longer worthy of serious consideration for army lists, the Marauder (with the +D6 against huge bases) emerged as the new spam jack. If you want to complain about Marauder spam, don't blame the change rules change from structures to huge bases, blame the Mad Dog nerf. <<< --- >>> I agree that, at this time, any rules that Siege1 has for structures is more fluffy than functional. With the recent release of the Trencher Blockhouse and the new structure rules we might be seeing a shift where there will be structures for a lot (all?) of the factions coming out eventually. If / when that day comes Siege1 will be nasty.
