So Eilish is out in warroom and look sweet.
Puppet master and upkeep removal shure are good.
But when will you take him ?
If more and more of our themes switch to allowing 1 merc solo, i will find it hard not to take ragman.
Pre gravediggers i have been playing a lot of haley3 outside theme, and he shure would have been in that list. But i can see gravediggers taking over my H3 now.

It's looking like we'll only be able to take him out of theme. I tried Heavy Metal and Storm Division - no mercs allowed. So I created a Convergence army in theme and found I could add Eilish. Seems like our themes are too good to allow mercs. Wah.
So out of theme, then. Would puppet master be good on Caine2 out of theme maybe?

He is legal now in gravedigger.
If the CID Son of tempest is unchanged he will also be there. That theme is expected around now.
We however are expecting also an update to the rest of existing themes, on the merc allowens. Unclear when that will drop.

Im unceartain if puppet master will be good on cain2.
Will be good however on peyriss, maybe on GMCA on that crucial -def see stealth against a warcaster in cover, ayanias magical armour debuff, or some crucial spell from warcaster when you dont have focus to boost.

At the moment, only Grave Diggers allows a merc solo. SotT will probably be changed to allow a merc solo and unit.
I don't know if Eilish is worth the spot . He's a solid solo, but I'd rather go with Eiryss, Piper, Taryn, Gorman, Ragman, Sylys, Reinholdt, etc. most of the time.

Am I the only one to think he is weak? Like really, 5 points are a lot for a sub par ranged attack, a 11 inches dispel that spells insta-kill after using it, and puppet master (good, but 5 points good? I doubt it).

He is actually very strong, and I think mercs will always put him inside when allowed. That said, Ragman is an huge force multiplier in many lists, and the Pyper or Taryn can be crucial to cover some armies holes, so he has strong competitors for the single spot non-merc factions will get on themes. Not a bad thing IMO. We didn't need something stronger than Ragman to be added to the game.

I'm not sure it's fair to call his ranged attack sub-par when he can double-boost it. Also, I don't think he necessarily insta-dies after dispelling since he can hop back 5" afterwards (possibly behind a wall or forest as it's a place not a move); if he's dispelling something on YOUR units then he should be quite safe. Bear in mind that he's dispelling EVERY enemy spell within 5" of himself, so he can dispell multiple spells that way, possibly doing multiple D3's to the enemy caster (potentially after the enemy caster suffered damage casting the spells in the first place). I can't really judge how powerful he is, but I can see how he could solve some problems. It's a way for other factions to deal with Arcane Shield, for example...

What appeals to me most about him is that the Disbanding does not require a target, so it gets around things like Sacred Ward and the Choirs Warding prayer. It also does not require an attack roll, so as long as your positioning is correct you are guaranteed to succeed.
The biggest question for me is does he replace Ragman in lists where I was going to take a merc solo? I don't have an answer to that yet.
I could maybe see taking him in a Haley 2 SotT list, she has TK to help deliver him or pull him back to safety. Puppet Master plus the Squire Re-roll makes Haley 2 even more efficient at slinging spells. I could also maybe see taking him in certain Gravediggers builds, as you have a cloudwall to help deliver him.

He's compelling but not auto include, which is what you'd want a solo to be. Still, stormnouns will want rhupert, and heavy metal may prefer ragman. Maybe in gravediggers? Even SotT may prefer ragman.
