Man as expected cryx is underwhelmed. Literally tossing powerups the way of their jacks and its never good enough. well its underwhelming for now. the units in the theme arent the greatest in the world. the bonuses are awesome. it will be alot better after black fleet CID. The themes are basically handing out primal - Faithful Masses and no Black fleet. So why don't we just give Circle a theme with primal as a hard rule (not animus) on every circle warbeast. That's fair right? (yes the implication is every other turn every circle warbeast auto-frenzies no matter what) Except it is not called primal so stacks with primal and lets your warbeast activate but can't be forced so like a super frenzy? I Like it already...can we apply it to casters like Kromac 2 as well? Nope. Not allowed to stack. No activation mess. Just primal as it's written. PP can't go back and re-write the entire edition just for one theme force. |

Dont resist MK4...just embrace it...it probably has like years of play-testing behind it. |

How can you be disappointed with stuff that hasn't even come out yet and hasn't even undergone CID? You could just flat out run jacks with it and dump the rest! The very least this is the "Lack of Damage" that Cryx always hammers on about. The ability for your jacks to independently hit like demons and more accurately too. By its very nature alone its already better |

There's plenty of us in the background too busy theory-crafting what we'll do with the theme to find a reason to complain (neat, I discovered this site has automatic censorship) about it. I'm currently contemplating what to do with my second list after Ghost Fleet. I could run my Gaspy2 Dark Host army, put together an Aiakos2 Black Industries list, or trade my Banes for some Bloodgorgers with Black Fleet. All are very tempting. |

Bloodgorgers are getting a new UA, so they will almost certainly be in the cid.

Wow, the theme bonuses seem to get better by the day. As a Menoth player I had thought the benefits of Faithful Masses were over the top (and said so in CID). Now I think that Faithful Masses is actually soft compared to the new benchmark for theme bonuses and should be revisited by PP.
There was a time when something like 'Gang fighter' would have been considered a strong, model defining benefit. Now it is just given as a bonus to all jacks in the new theme.
It is hard to see how such bonuses can be justified when MK3 was supposedly balanced. If people say that the theme bonuses are justified because of the model's in the theme being lacklustre, then that implies there was a balance issue to start with. As well, the strong theme bonus creates a design space issue. Fixing the models would then leave the theme over powered.

Ideally they'd fix the models and then redo the themes with much smaller bonuses. Just things that helped tactically. Things like extra deployment area, starting roll bonuses, and maybe some free points.
That's probably a conversation for a new thread though.

This could easily be a strong warjack theme when the Black Ogrun Ironmongers come out. Lots of repair, lots of gang fighter enablers hugging their jacks.

I'm not sure why this is titled Black Fleet Raider theme when the theme spoiled is Slaughter Fleet. Theme seems fine & whether it sees play will depend on how good the new models are & if meta is supports Bloodgorgers. This list definitely doesn't inspire me to build anything the way Black Industries or Dark Host did, although I'll probably end up playing it anyway due to my love for Bloodgorgers.
