I hate him because he's mainstream lol. Sounds like you and I suffer the same problem (cursed dice). Though, I'm surprised you got so much work out of shredders. Do you mind telling me your playstyle with them? I find I either keep them too far back trying to keep them alive for a flank opportunity, or just end up using them as speed bumps. Running Thagrosh 2 - I do try to have one up far enough to bait. But mostly they stay back field around the Neraphs. The scenario I work to set up is that, under MD, neraph walks to within 2" of the target, vortex and takes its hits (beat back specifies "can" so i don't push the target away). Then the shredder walk/charges to finish the target. 16 points is not a bad point cost trade. Then under feat move the shredders push forward while the neraphs, typhon, and bolt throwers retreat/reposition. The pot with apparition is relatively easy to get corpses in range. the last two games I played on turn three I had made 3 new lessers (2 from pot, one from Thagrosh). That's generating 12 more points of army from thin air. Also the pot lets you create some great placement and threat ranges. MD on shredders really puts out some terrifying dice. Thunderbolt makes a big deal in managing threat ranges. I've even charged in the bolt thrower to get flank for shredders (Ok I tried to get a kill and quick work but it didn't happen... still worked out in the end). I'd like to drop something for a Seraph but it works so well right now with the pairs of BTs and Neraphs. conflictchamber.com/#ca201b_-0taDbfbfeJeJ2929292929aRbubbbbbecocob9b1Legion Army - 74 / 75 points [Theme] Oracles of Annihilation (Thagrosh 2) Thagrosh, the Messiah [+25] - Nephilim Bolt Thrower [11] - Nephilim Bolt Thrower [11] - Neraph [12] - Neraph [12] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Typhon [24] - Succubus [0(4)] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellion [0(6)] Spell Martyr [1] Spell Martyr [1] The Forsaken [0(4)] Spawning Vessel (min) [5]

A legitimate alternative. Though I disagree on the Warspears and to a lesser extent Typhon just about everyone loves him. I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate Typhon. Less pow than non-characters, way to many points, EH way to easily shut down, being hyped as a spray bot he's too inaccurate, no pathfinder. He never gets any work done worth anything, and it's not for lack of trying. He's in my Thagrosh 2 list and the last game I played my flanking shredder did more dmg to the juggernaut than Typhon did (No I did not buy all my attacks with Typhon. Only 4 total hits from him so as to not deal with 16+ fury on the board.) My Typhon and Naga are definitively cursed. Less POW than which non-characters? Typhon has 3 initials at Pow 17. Carnivean has one initial at Pow 18, and two 16. Scythean has Two at 17 and one at 15. In addition, he's 1 fury greater, 1 speed faster, 2 def higher, and 1 rat higher than the Carnivean chassis, plus the benefit of Regeneration, crit pitch, and immune to back strikes. There's good reason why he's costed the way he is. He can hit harder in the long run and survive longer. I'm also confused how EH gets shut down for you. It's an average 2 damage mitigated every hit for only one fury. It's even more useful for your caster, who on an assassination attempt can soak the first hit and then keep healing it every time they transfer damage. Granted, he does a lot more with Thag 1 than Thag 2, but they're different casters. A draconic blessing-ed Typhon will hit a Juggernaut with three dice-1 of damage three times. Buying a fourth attack will, on average, kill an untouched one in a single activation, with a fury left to spare.

Grievous Wounds will shut down his regenerative qualities, but i personally don't encounter it very often.

I can't believe there is a conversation happening right now about hating Typhon... of all the things I thought I'd never see. He is worth every single one of his 24 points. If he was available in Oracles I would never run a list without him.

I can't believe there is a conversation happening right now about hating Typhon... of all the things I thought I'd never see. Everyone has differing opinions and vastly different experience. I may hate typhon but I love Azrael to no end. I play more CotD lists than anything specifically so that I put him on the table. Most people love the Angelius. I hate it. I like the Scythean more than a carni or a ravagore. That's not a popular opinion either. Not to even begin on how much I champion Kryssa," the most hated of everblight". But it's no reason to make a fuss.
