Hey Everyone
So 2017 has been the year of the theme, to mixed feelings. Circle seems to have had a whirlwind year starting with Wurmwood and 2Una being absolutely massive drops.. that copt it to the chin a little. Into 2017 scenarios and Jaws of the wolf style lists becoming the norm and a massive question mark for circle as far as what lists to drop and when.
Devourers Host seems to be flavor of the moment with a pairing most often with Bones of Orb.
I am curious to hear from people who have been going 'off-book' with their lists, specifically non theme lists and ones you have been running for a while.
Have you found any combos that are proving worth their weight even in light of the potential loss in points for solos etc to take you above the 75 pt mark. Have you been taking them to local tournaments to good effect, what seems to be their weak points... I want the wardollies gos guys!
I have quite a large collection of Minions sitting idol at the moment, I miss them, I love rocking a Circle / Minion co-lab that add so much flavour to the lists.

Myself and other Circle players I've talked to all agree on one thing, the fulcrum is pretty awesome. Fulcrum + 2 Woldwyrds is the staple combo that can fit in a lot of lists.
It lets you run 3 more fury hot, and can pull that fury from a further range than all of our other fury management tools.
Chuck that combo in with anything, don't even worry about bones theme.
The only big annoyance is the mirror match as the fulcrums can't hurt each other.

I think the biggest reason to not run theme is when you want to include character beasts with non-bonded casters, such as Krueger 2 and Loki. I have even seen lists like this for the WTC. Another good reason is to include Sentry Stones in anything non-Bones. Secret Masters will give us reasons to use minions in theme, but my opinion is that we will see them only for the sac pawn rule, ignoring the units that we are supposed to include, the druids.
There is not a lot of exciting things to talk about themes until we have the living beasts team, sadly.

The addition of a warbeast theme (Hope it's not living only BS) will make sweeping changes on Circle lists... At least I hope so.

Our themes are not very impressive, especially compared to the current favorite factions PP has. (cryx, cygnar, ret, khador) Bones will be solid once CiD drops (its ok now just doe not hit hard) and the tharn theme works but also lacks any meaningful arm cracking. The Wild hunt is basically just all in assassination, it offers 0 scenario or attrition power outside of grayle and maybe morvannah 2. I never play wurmwood and Krueger 2 in theme. They love sentry stones, mercs/minions, and having character beasts options. My wurmwood list I have been running lately that I love passionately is Wurmy -Megs -Pureblood -2 Wyrds Fulcrum 2 Sentry Stones Shifting Stones Min Bone Grinders 2 Gallows Groves Hutchuck Hutchuck is amazing. I literally love him. He can provide a arm debuff to jacks (they are everywhere in the meta) He can kill infantry, Knockdown important targets, and contest. Ambush is great on him in games where you do not really need rust and overall I just get a lot of work out of the guy. I have some battle reports over in my NOVA thread. The list has attrition, scenario, and assassination covered and is a medium ranged gunline. I think Megs is our best character Heavy in faction right now, I almost always take him out of theme. I also run (though not as much) Krueger 2 Megs Pureblood 2 Wyrds Loki 2 Gallows Groves 2 Sentry stones 2 shifting stones hutchuck swamp gobber bellows crew This is more of a janky attrition list, Cheating trades with Loki and TK. I have horrible luck with Loki. It also threats assassination. I have not played it in a while though so I am a tad rusty on the mechanics of it. Basically all kreuger does is TK and put up the odd Windstorm or Lightning Storm. It has a lot of hard to prepare for vectors and puts pressure on the opponent. (lightning storm is actually really good into Dakr host as banes hate pow 10's that ignore the Wraith engine and wall of steel/stealth. Nahualli has a really good Mohsar list out of theme. It has some incredible assassination vectors. I have seen it in action, it is almost impossible to peedict the assassination threat of Moh and his BG in a timed game.

Once the puppet master on a minion stick comes out, it will help Loki

Thanks for all the replies guys!
Macdaddy, I love the sound of that first Wurmy list, I just need Hutchuck (needed him for a while and the Slaughter fellas) Will test him.
Do you think it would pair well with a Bones + a Devourers host? (thinking triple pairing)
Cheers Will

I've been playing Wurmwood and Una2 in theme lately (Both Devourer's Host now) but i have been playing Krueger2 out of theme because i wanted both a Pureblood and at least 1 Woldwyrd which means only the Wild Hunt theme (currently) and also i wanted to try the Fulcrum which means no theme at all. It has been great, it does hold it's own vs other themes, the only issue is it takes time to play it because you end up not losing very many models and so your turns are always busy.
Krueger2 - Megalith - Pureblood - Woldwyrd - Woldwyrd - Argus Moonhound Celestial Fulcrum Sentry Stone Sentry Stone Shifting Stones Hutchuck Gremlin Swarm
When the Wold CID changes go through i think i will put it in Bones of Orboros with 2 or 3 Woldwardens, but for now its great. The fulcrum makes everything just tick along very nicely helping with fury management and Hutchuck is great at applying the Rust bomb to let me shoot down Warjacks. This is targeted towards Cygnar a little bit as it was my third list at the UK Nationals.

Do you think it would pair well with a Bones + a Devourers host? (thinking triple pairing) Cheers Will The wurmy list is super fun, takes time to get used to though, so many choices turn by turn! But that is what makes it good. It is very adaptable. I typically pair all my lists with Baldur 2 in Bones. I have a pretty good track record with him when I focus and play patiently. He is pretty great into most Cygnar and Cryx Match ups (there are some exceptions) but for the most part a lot of cygnar and cryx lists cannot crack through 2 wraths very quickly and you can really push the limits on attrition with him and some sentry stones and Wraths. Certain individuals on here try to say he is garbage but as long as you know what opponents have blessed and where you can typically crutch on wurmy for those match ups. If you do not own 2 wraths I recommend running this: Baldur2 -Megs -2 Wardens -2Guardians 2 Sentry Stones 2 Shifting Stones 2 Wayfaerers 2 Shapers 2 Shifting Stones I had a lot of success with this list before I got my second WoldWrath. It is durable, hits hard and can clean out infantry with crevasse from geomancy and the sentry stones. It is more susceptible to cryx debuffs though so beware the Ghost fleet match up as Denny can remove heavies on her feat turn and neuter your army. As far as Devourers Host I have limited experience with it due to my tharn collection. (mostly lady tharn) But people on here make it work and I have seen it grind attrition and play aggressively pretty well. I would try tech-ing this list for the Oracles match up as Wurmy and Baldur 2 struggle into it because naga's are a thing and Flight ignores forests. I think the tharn theme can actually play pretty well into oracles, Lots of High accuracy Medium Pow attacks and a swarm of tough infantry can really bog down and grind the Legion beasts if you get your spacing right.

Krueger2 - Megalith - Pureblood - Woldwyrd - Woldwyrd - Argus Moonhound Celestial Fulcrum Sentry Stone Sentry Stone Shifting Stones Hutchuck Gremlin Swarm You can play the same build in secret masters... in bones you really want curse of shadows. I'm playing Mohsar bones lately with double guardians, double wyrds and fulcrum and is quite nice.

I could do, i can't remember the exact benefits of Secret Masters and whether the benefits are worth it (considering i only have 19 point of Blackclads). With the addition of the +2 damage for wolds i think i'd be very interested to play it in Bones, at least to try it.

Sac pawn minions for all blackclad warriors, minions access (1 unit and 1 solo) and upkeep in play at the start.

I'm playing Mohsar bones lately with double guardians, double wyrds and fulcrum and is quite nice. I don't actually think this works in Secret masters. The minions yes, but I don't believe the sentry stones or Megalith are permitted and the fulcrum is unclear.

If the fulcrum is not allowed in secret masters I would be very upset with PP. that would almost feel like a middle finger to use circle players haha
