So I finally got my fiancee to start playing. She's been sold on the aesthetics of the Circle Orboros for a long time, but now she's finally decided to take the plunge. To get her started, I've bought her a large army for a very good price online. It's taken me several days to strip the paint and prep the models. She insists on painting the miniatures herself (and I don't blame her), but whe has let me do the bases for all of her miniatures... So here's the progress so far. A unit of Tharn Bloodtrackers and a gnarlhorn satyr are done. A woldwatcher and warpborn skinwalkers in the works. The tan parts are cork; I use sheet cork for smooth standing surfaces, and chunks of solid cork for "rocks". The grey areas are a coarse sand (originally aquarium sand IIRC - I've had this stuff for over a decade so I forgot). The twigs are from a small bush that used to grow on our balcony. It dried out and is now being recycled

That Gnarlhorn be like 'Move tree, this is my spot'

I like those natural parts that you used beside the cork . Would like to see some painted, I'm wondering how you will create the transitions

I'll post some pics once my Fiancee has started painting. SHe's planning on adding lots of natural elements, so the tree on the gnarlhorn's base as well as those on the pureblood's and Nuala's will have dark brown/tan paint and flock to make them look like actual trees. SHe's looking into buying flowerbeds for model-train hobby to use on her bases as well.

I'm really digging those bases. Very evocative of the "sneaky" portion of Circle.

Thanks ^_^ So we got some gallows groves too, but my fiancee does NOT like skulls.... Most of the skulls will be camouflaged/covered at some point, but the ones on the branches were sorted.

Hah! The swing is the best part yet.
And yes. I often muttered skulls for the skull tree when painting my two Gallows Groves recently. They just seem to never end.

Thanks! The lady is anxious to get some paint on the models, so there should be painted pics soon enough, too

Looks great! I recommend coating all the wood/cork parts with thinned white glue before priming- wood is difficult to get good paint coverage on unless it is sealed in some way (and a glue layer might also give some extra strength to the twigs).

That's actually not a bad idea - I'll see what I can do with it

I love how this adds a lot to the miniatures. The house makes them playful, but also a bit sinister, really nicely done
Can't wait to see them painted.
