Hello all! I'm interested in running a fairly battlegroup-heavy Blindwater army, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to go over the options and collect some feedback and wisdom. Please feel free to contribute to any beasts or combinations thereof.
Blackhide Wrastler
It's a sturdy heavy with Rage, what else do you need to know? It's not cheap, but it's a great melee beast, and its animus is incredible. On the slow side, so needs delivery.
Blind Walker
Shield Guard, arcing spells, and durable. Pretty lousy damage output, but with Rage it can do some work. If your caster has a spell that you want to apply at a distance it's a great piece, if not then it's hard to justify the cost.
Boneswarm
Much maligned, but I like the mini so I'm going to try to make it work. Current plan is putting it in among a unit of Posse for slight defense against living, non-reach melee units. In that dream scenario, it can clear a couple of them off and grab a couple corpses, after which it is an ok little combat piece. Animus ain't bad on the caster, either.
Bull Snapper
Little gator bullet. 11" free charge against living is pretty solid, but I don't see it has much else to offer. Can be free in theme, which puts them in direct competition with the Totem Hunter and Thrullg. I'm going to field it, but I'm not expecting much.
Ironback Spitter
The ranged heavy. If you want a good boostable gun this is your beast, and it's also delightfully resilient to return fire. Three initials makes it a great Rage target as well: it won't one-round a Khador heavy, but comes pretty close.
Swamp Horror
A strange beast. Almost always a worse offensive piece than the Wrastler, almost always less durable, but cheaper so why wouldn't it be. Chain Weapon and Pull on the tentacles have some niche utility, and I guess Elasticity will occasionally be a big deal. Pretty solid package overall.
Honourable Mention: Wrong Eye & Snapjaw
Their own little battlegroup, these guys are great. Star-Crossed does exactly what I want the Boneswarm to do defensively over a large area, and Snapjaw is a legit heavy in his own right. Also they're nearly immune to shooting. Great package.
