So the new Khador theme actively encourages for there to be many more infantry in Khador lists. The main benefit of Counter Charge is huge, and I know the local Khador player is very excited to use it.
However I was thinking, this could be good for Menoth too...
So I am thinking:
Move Harby to position whereby her 10" control will end about 4" from the opponent's models. Feat. Move tempting targets to within 6" of opponent's Counter Charging units. Profit - as the models move into melee, they will be closer to Harby than they begun, and so burn...
I do not have my cards on me to check, but I think this would work, and would cut in before the combat part of the charge so no damage to our bait either.
What do people think?

Yes I agree however, this will most likely still play out just like it did in MK II. Its still going to be a scenario control feat done in the bottom of 1 or top of 2. Most players dont move in, infantry, when it comes to her feat sadly. Usually when you feat Harby they take that time to set up for the next turn once her feat is down and while this is a good thing for us there are so many counters to it not to mention that if harby becomes that viable you will see all that wonderful fire immune guys that have been popping up as of late.

Since I've been looking into getting into Menoth, I've also been looking into which units have fire immunity. Strangely, Khador seems to have the most other than Menoth (haven't looked at them all yet). Generally, you'll find just a unit or two, maybe a solo, but that's it. Thus the act of lighting up a huge amount of infantry on fire and watching them die is glorious! I just have one issue...
Use Feora 1 instead of The Harbringer of De-*cough* Menoth. Feora 1 has a 12 inch control range instead of relying on the 10 inch command of Harbringer. It also only does 2 less damage on infantry that will generally have a maximum of 16 armor and 1 box to begin with (some exceptions of course) and can continue rolling on them for round after round. Feora 1 also has much more survivability in that situation, plus more jack points.
Another issue with using flames to combat the Khador infantry threat has to do with which caster they use. If they choose Strakhov2, the entire plan will quickly go bunk. The only saving grace is that they can't use character jacks with that theme.

With Horgle2 and Kallus2 out and about, I think the Harbinger has more game than Feora1.
Feora1 rocks my socks, though.

yeah, I'm still trying to decide between Feora 1 and Feora 2 for my Trogdor list (a list focused on lighting everything on fire and then going in for the kill). My other list will probably be harby though. She's just too cool of a caster.

A Harbinger that is 14" away from the enemy army is a dead Harbinger. Yes, her feat would kill the infantry who counter charged, but it would work once on one unit. And Harbinger most certainly still dies next turn.

Depends on how much shooting the khador army has, and how many shield guards you have. YOur own troops are still blocking charges ansd the feat will still be up, so infantry will still be dead during the opponent's turn. He'll need to kill a LOT to martyr you to death, and have a lot of guns available to shoot you in a meaningful way.
Yes, it's a risky maneuver, but it's by no means a certain suicide.

no use your opponent can just not contercharge you. it's not a "must" effect

if you read correctly, s/he mentioned leaving out "tempting bait." You make it so that what they want to charge requires them to move closer to harby. Harby's feat then hits before they hit the model (instant effect if I remember correctly) and they have to risk the POW 14 damage roll. It's not a bad idea, but using Feora 1's feat would be more appropriate. You just make sure she's good and guarded when she moves up and you get yourself a Russian BBQ. Even if your opponent rolls well on putting out the fires, with that kind of list, you're going to run into a lot of spam, meaning you'll still be rolling against about half the infantry you lit up.
The tactica that we are discussing is not as simple as "Countering countercharging infantry." We are discussing "Countering lists with a heavy amount of countercharging infantry." In this case, whether they counter charge or not isn't the issue. Stopping them from using counter charge until you engage them is just as good of an outcome. TBH, though, I'll probably be using cleansers to take out lists like that; a 5 to 6 inch counter charge doesn't matter when you are spewing flames from 7-8 inches away (10 on feat)

No. Counter charge or, even worse, defensive strike on a whole enemy army is merciless into harbinger, and your feat only buys you a turn of respite from that rather then being an offensive weapon. Don't do this, at all. Any Feora1/2/3, Malekus, Vindictus, Kreoss1/2, High Reclaimer, or Testament list are far more likely to succeed against that.
