I'm in a good mood for painting, so no long break, picked a package from the huge collection of unpainted and unmodelled stuff and went on... Some wips of my Eye Of Truth: cleaning, drilling, pinning: Sections primed: First colour:

That's a really clean, smooth base coat. I like. What primer did you use?

I've used army painter basecoats a lot, and they've been very satisfactory. Solid quality coats with no loss of detail.
Nice colors you're using there, looking good!

He looks great, I love the black blade, the gems are very well done, and the contrast in your gold really brings out the model's detail!
I do have one question: why the pure white circles on the blade? If those are meant to be glowing then, well, I think they need a bit more work. I hope I'm not being too negative when I say this, but the just kinda look unfinished in the photos.

@soul Samurai: thank you very much for your comment! You're not negative, you're right! :-). This is the kind of information, that helps to improve the work! And yes, on the photo it really looks just plain white and unfinished. My idea was to give it the same look the off-white of the armor has. But it did not work on the sword! I reaily should rework it! I tried a glowing effect on the visor of the helmet: You can not see much of this in the pictures of the finished model, because of the round collar in front of the helmet. Perhaps I should try this with the round circles in the sword, what do you mean? And then I can overhaul the black of the sword, too! The effect I wanted to achieve was this one (I have this on all of my blades on the important models of my khemry army): Khemri is black -> light-blue, Protectorate would be black -> off-white. I ran out of motivation, so the blade is at it is at the moment, should work again on it. I think I also didn't do it, because I'm not convinced, that it would work with white as good as with blue. Perhaps some complete other color? Red? But there is already enough red in the Protectorate scheme. I'm also considering, to change the frame of the shield from red to gold. Eye of truth finished? Yes! Could it tolerate some more work? absolutly! :-).

I can't see black to white working to be honest; I'm sure a skilled painter could pull it off, but I have to believe it would be easier to get a nice effect using colours. If you want a colour that stands out from the red and gold armour (so not red/orange/yellow) but don't want to use blue, how about purple? That's a good Protectorate colour.
As I said before though, I think the black works well, it's just those holes that are a bit strange. I have a couple of suggestions: 1. You could drill them right through the blade so they are actual holes rather than just depressions. 2. You could sculpt or glue some spherical shapes into them and paint them as gemstones to match the rest of the armour.

Soul Samurai, that are two rely good ideas! I think I will try it with the gems, need new green stuff or something similar . Until then I finished Nicia. I dropped her into my fully loadet wet-pallette, and didn't found the motivation to repair all, so all in all just mediocre. But for gaming reasons that's ok .
