Looking great!
Had a random idea... For the front arc what if you went with a wood look? A nice brown with some lines and "knots" across the front. That would go particularly well with Borka, but would also seem to fit the theme and color scheme of your green trolls.
I've never seen it done, but it sure would look nice I believe. Your models and bases are looking good already.

mattmcdWood work would definitely fit my theme, the problem just is the execution of something like that. I haven't really done freehanding of any scale so it sounds quite intimidating. Now if I could use a pen it would be a different story (10+ years of drawing experience vs half a year's worth in painting). I'll probably be doing color tests for different greens I have. I don't want to use the same greens for the base rims as for the skin of the trolls so I'm hoping applying Athonian Camoshade wash on brighter green (Warpstone Glow) would do the trick. I bet it won't because otherwise it would be just too easy lol.

Hahaha. It is rarely easy for sure! It appears you have done well thus far!

*drybrushing intensifies*Took black undercoat, three kinds of grey and bit of black wash to get there. Oh, and a bit of flock. Still work to do but looking good so far, I think. Tip: Don't use (even) a non-permanent marker to make pointers where to glue cork bits etc. It'll probably come through paint. Happened to me with both red and green marker. And they got through two layers of paint, black and dark grey on top of everything.

The ink bleed through sounds like a good place to put flock! 😜

tapecrawlerThat would've been my plan B if two extra layers of paint hadn't worked. Tactical mishap censorship.

It's getting there. Slowly. I'm just getting distracted by rats playing unnecessarily violent form of American football and a classic called Persona 4. Dramatic pose is dramatic. Still needs some little paint to cover up green stuff fillings, maybe a bit of flock and Borka's base will have a pair of mushrooms as well. :B

Quite some very nice trolls ! i especially like the tartans, as far as i can see they look superb. If i might make a suggestion, your models could profit a lot from some cleaner photos. Just put something uniform in the background (folder or smth), use a light source from somewhere above (a little in front of the models for example) and then the camera you are using doesnt matter much.

raymh3 Thanks! I'm glad to hear I haven't messed up the tartans, I always get antsy when I'm about to paint them since I don't like re-doing paint jobs. My WIP shots are from my painting station (read: computer desk) taken with a webcam so the lighting and overall quality aren't optimal at all. I'm going to put up (hopefully) much better pictures once the models are finished with bases and such.

Cryptix I'm teaching our pet rats to play Blood Bowl Just trying to wrangle a team of Skaven with a paint brush. My LGS has a quite lively BB group and it seems like a fun game so I thought why not. Plus the team kits are actually affordable for once.

Maybe I'll get my battlebox trolls ready to play some day. Sorry for the picture quality. Idk what the webcam was potatoing. Needs only some finishing touches and cleaning up here and there but otherwise my bouncer is good to go. That wood log is actually a piece of decorative bamboo we had and skillfully withered to death. I salvaged it to be used for basing purposes lol. Makes great logs with a bit of paint, though!
