Shoving my models here as well because I can, HA. I also have a thread at PP's forum ( over here) and I just created a sub blog at Tumblr for my trolls ( and here). Not gonna flood this with ALL the old pictures because there's loads but you can always check the blog out or take a look at the forum thread. :B Here are some more recent WIPs: Clearcoating started, it's still very glossy but I'm gonna tone it down to have more matte finish. Ragnor and photobombing Axer. As an extra, a small detail-y shot: Because I'm quite happy how the face came out. All I can say is I hate painting eyes. And teeth. Well, FACES in general. Obviously missing bases because I'm having difficulties to get the specific grass flock I ordered weeks ago... Meanwhile, I'm working on Borka1 and EBDT. Oh yeah, in case someone's wondering, I'm using GW's paints because my LGS only has them in their stock and I'm not keen on the idea of having to order paints online in Finland especially during winter. Plus it's faster since I can just drop by the shop and get the paints I need.

I'm digging the tartan on Ragnor. It looks sharp!
As to the paints, meh shmeh. Everyone uses what they like. Heck I use GW, P3, Reaper and Vallejo paints. For primer I use GW for black, P3 for White and Krylon for Grey.

ratrekThanks! I'm happy how the tartan turned out even if I'm not overly happy with the overall color combinations I used. I find it difficult to work with colors tbh. Gonna try different tartan colors for Borka, though. I want him to look as awesome as I can manage since I really want to build an army around him. I've only ever used GW's paints so I don't even know how others are compared to them. But I really like the color range they have and those technical and texture paints.

Can't really do anything else at the moment so I decided to get my (for now) one and only heavy closer to being finished. Because painting them just grey or brown would be kinda bland IMO since the model itself doesn't have that much other details. I'm probably gonna curse myself to the lowest pits of the unpleasant afterlife when I get to highlighting those parts. Ah well.

ratrekI excel at shooting myself in the foot with my painting choices. :I Questionable thing to be good at. --- I feel like I'm spamming my own thread but... yay for progress? Because holy crud this dude's turning out nicely so far. BLAAARRGGHHBBLLLBBLBLBLBL On another note, I'm gonna be majorly upset and annoyed if I don't get my Hordes stuff order next week because it includes a pot of dark green flock I need for my trolls' bases. And I have my battlegroup all clearcoated and stuff so I'd really like to get them on bases now. I could've ordered them from another game store's website but I like to support my local shop which happens to be run by my friend. I know he can't do much about how long it takes, the problem is at the other end. I'm still quite a bit annoyed already. End of ramble.

Wow man those look fantastic. I wish I could paint half as well as that! I concur about the faces, always the worst part of the model to paint as it can really make or break the model looking great or stupid haha.

RamsesIIThanks! I'm actually quite surprised by the results I've been getting from my painting, considering I re-started it in fall 2016 or so. Before that, the last time I painted miniatures was... 10 years ago? I suppose having an artistic hobby in the mean time paid off. I agree, faces can really make or break the model. That's why I'm always so reluctant to even start painting them, especially the eyes. At least my choice in 40k was Tau so not much faces there lol.

I dig the non-standard colours on the trolls, keep spitting them at us.

svirfneblinThanks, there'll certainly be more. --- I think I nailed the "earthborn" look pretty well. Only missing the base now and I still gotta touch up glossy bits off where they're not wanted. But like the inside of the mouth can have its shinyness because I bet these things drool a lot. Gotta say, I really like painting these big beasts! Kinda funny because I dislike painting vehicles and battlesuits of 40k.

Currently grinding my teeth thanks to Mr. Kegslayer. I was gonna do something more original with the tartan but it ended up looking very close to the studio theme one but wth those colors just work so who cares. Painting faces, I s2g... It's a... uh... detail shot? I don't know if Borka1's a good warlock but I want to build a force around him just because he's fricking awesome. //edit: Here's a detail WIP from the backside as well. I've found that wood is pretty easy to paint. I used only GW's Zandri Dust and gave it a heavy brown wash.

I sound like a broken* record but where's that damn flock??
Because I have things to base. Decided to keep his 'pimp fur collar' simple so the model doesn't get too busy. Beer on the way! The scary thing is that I'm running out of models to paint. ...except for the scary amount of Taus. //edit: How to use left over green stuff? Make tiny mushrooms, of course.

Teehee, little details like this are fun. Because who knows what scrap slags eat? I bet there's something golden/gold colored among it. This dude's gonna have a lot of metals on him. I bought paints to do brass just for him plus I love brass' color.

Slag troll? More like a bling troll. This pile kinda scares me... I spent couple hours greenstuffing them because even the smallest gaps started to bug me. And I really hope I won't need another unit of fennblades. They were so tedious to clean up and assemble. Hopefully they won't be tedious to paint...

I really dig these. The green looks good on them. The earthborn looks particularly nice.
I get why they look so angry, though. "It's not easy being green."
