So, I got to try Orion v Karchev last night. Not a great match up for Orion. We spent some time talking about Monitors with Orion. Initially his kit/feat seems to want them. After loosely running the math, though they don't seem nearly as impressive. One shot per monitor means they just dont kill things unless you field 4-5 of them. Vs armour 20 unboosted they do no damage. If they crit they do 3-4. Boosting for 7. Then feat turn for 10-11 damage per shot. So you need 4 Monitors, all rolling crit brutal on feat turn to kill one Khador heavy. Seems better than normal for Monitors, but still not great. Is Orion with Monitors like putting lipstick on a pig? I know it seems counterintuitive but dice-7>0. In this case it's pretty close to 1. And honestly, I think Orion's feat is much better in melee than at range. At least for jacks. And the Monitor has sustained attack. I think you are overlooking the assassination potential of the Monitor on feat turn. A 13" range, True Sight, Mage Sight and the feat means there's not a lot of places for that Warnoun to hide. Just the threat of that is enough to make the opposing player keep his leader back, plus, I did manage to live the dream last weekend and got a POW 13, 6 Dice shot on his caster. Plus, while at range, the Monitor uses a solid 2 Focus every turn. That's something you can plan for.

But in this meta (with decent gunlines) no one is leaving their caster alone without a Shieldguard. Or they aren't leaving it without LOS blocking models/terrain.
I kinda feel like his kit is a trap.. you see all these benefits that help guns, but our jacks just don't have good ones. Groundpounder is great for taking out solos or groups of mobs, Monitor is iffy, Accelerspiker is great for infantry, again, Diffuser and Mitigator are low-damage support pieces. Reductors, CRA Angels, and the Conflux can only scratch at POW 13 (sure POW 15 if you have a Ionization nearby, but that requires spawning one close to the target you want to hit or having one handy from last turn).
Personally I think his power will be in allowing us to trigger ranged attacks that support our other models. A free Cipher flare, or Diffuser Homing Beacon or Bola via Avenging Force will be way way more useful than a Monitor shot that might miss on 2d6. Even Magic bullet seems like a trap.. you really want to use it after a high-chance vector fires it's gun. That leads me to believe we need to use the Diffuser shot (with Luck) to almost guarantee the triggering of MB.
Another idea might be to give a Galvanizer 1 focus, let it run/charge into a group of solos or units and then spam Power Blaster. Or better still use Orion's gun to bunch up a ton of small models and then do the Gal-Blaster move.

I find myself wishing his feat lasted for round rather than turn...give us some play on models such as counter charging reflex servitors....but maybe feat is strong enough already....😁

That sounds super situational to me. I would never feat with that in mind at all.
Anyone else like the thought of a Prime Axiom with Orion? The PA would love RAT 7, and is a potential good target for Avenging Force. Could shoot a tow cable to clear off zones, charge lanes, finish a low HP heavy, before your turn begins seems quite usefull to me. I assume he gets to hit whatever he drags in, on this attack as well.
Feat applies well with him too.
Only thing you miss out on is the reposition and 3'' move on Avenging Force.

Forced induction on a PA with 3 focus would clear a fair amount of a zone potentially after a trample also...also a slight or situational improvement is all you'd need cause the feat is pretty strong as is..might also help a electrical based theme with conflux and mods giving effective boosted plasma nimbus...

You're almost never going to get boosted plasma nimbus because his feat only lasts the turn, not the round.

There was in interesting rules clarification on the PA and Avenging Force. Yes, you do get the melee attack on the AF hit, but you can then buy additional melee attacks during your activation, even if you miss all the drag shots during your activation.

Interesting. And if your free AF melee attack hit, you know have sustained attack for his actual own activation?

Interesting. And if your free AF melee attack hit, you know have sustained attack for his actual own activation? No sustained attack only applies to attacks made during the model's activation.
