time to see how 2017 pans out? I'm gonna guess our average win ratio goes up but the casters we focus on shifts. With the coming of new themes and a new skorne book, along with the revealed exhalted theme, we should be able to hit back at the other factions that have sat at the top due to their themes pretty well.

Agreed. I think the first two months of SR2017 will be a bit of purgatory while we're waiting for our themes to become official.

what I like is that exhalteds really just needed more variety to get the final punch they needed. I mean, immortals going up to 15 PS would have been enough to make them a main staple in our forces, even outside of the zaals. An entire theme like that, plus a glimpse at possible additional construct models shows that we should have a really good jump on that side of the table. What we need now is to give the cataphracts a boost and something that will allow us to handle swarms. We can't really hope for additional speed to close in on armies like Cygnar faster, so just allowing us to clear the table a bit more reliably like in the past (in MK1, slammed models wouldn't stop unless you contacted an obstruction or LARGER sized base, not equal or larger. It let you clear infantry squads with relative ease) and Skorne won't be a baby faction anymore.

I put some mini-reports and photos on the Skorne FB group. But, uh... Makeda1 is super fun and I still love Molik Karn.

I put some mini-reports and photos on the Skorne FB group. But, uh... Makeda1 is super fun and I still love Molik Karn. Finding anything on a Facebook group is nigh impossible. Can you copy / paste here or provide a direct link? Thanks! I've been loving on Makeda1 for a while now, even after I cheated on her with Makeda2, I came running back to the original. I'd love to see what others are doing with her.

I played in the China Team Tournament this weekend, 4 rounds, and went 2-2. Makeda1 readily won her games on scenario, while Zaadesh2 readily lost his games on scenario. As a result, Zaadesh2 is getting dropped from my pairings as an armor cracker, or the list needs completely redesigned.
Makeda1 went into Kara Sloan both games with a sub-optimal list and still won. Lessons learned? - Molik + Puppet Master + Enrage + a few Jackhammers + a Miscellaneous attack (Gladiator / Radheim) are a LOT of resources to spend..., but killing that ARM 22 colossal is a game-changing move. Both games, Molik himself could only put it down to ~20 boxes. - Keep yourself surrounded by Shield Guards at all times when playing against ranged lists. And camp. A lot. They can take free strikes from the jam and shoot you no problem. - Bloodrunners are solid, but require a specific target. - Maximus often has just 1 job to do. Just. 1. Job. And he'll never roll above a 4 to hit. He's still very much worth the points.
Zaadesh: - Bricking up with Titans and Cetrati is just too slow to advance up the field. It gives too much ground to the opponent to win on scenario, even if they can't chew through the meat of the list. - Also walking so slowly gives your opponent multiple rounds of shooting into them, picking it apart every so slowly. - Maybe Ferox to speed it up? Ani?

Nice! What is your Mak1 build?
I had another this weekend, this time taking Rasheth Turtle Winds and Mak1:
Hexeris1: 0-0 Hexeris2: 0-0 Makeda1: 5-1 Makeda2: 0-0 Makeda3: 0-0 Mordikaar1: 0-0 Morghoul1: 0-0 Morghoul2: 0-0 Morghoul3: 0-0 Naaresh1: 0-0 Rasheth1: 1-1 Xekaar1: 0-0 Xerxis1: 0-0 Xerxis2: 0-0 Zaadesh2: 0-2 Zaal1 & Kovaas: 0-0 Zaal2: 0-0
Rasheth lost a grinder to grymkin (Dreamer) then got a cheeky turtle assassination on Stryker. Makeda put Molik on Vindictus after using Soldier + Orin + Jackhammer to blow apart a wall of errants.
These were my lists:
Archdomina Makeda [+29] - Aradus Soldier [16] - Basilisk Krea [7] - Cyclops Shaman [8] - Molik Karn [19] - Titan Gladiator [15] Gremlin Swarm [3] Mortitheurge Willbreaker [4] Orin Midwinter, Rogue Inquisitor [5] Paingiver Beast Handlers (min) [5] Praetorian Ferox (max) [20] Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew [2]
[Theme] Winds of Death Dominar Rasheth [+28] - Agonizer [6] - Basilisk Krea [7] - Titan Sentry/Aradus Soldier [15/16] Extoller Soulward [3] Extoller Soulward [3] Mortitheurge Willbreaker [0(4)] Venator Dakar [0(4)] Paingiver Beast Handlers (max) [7] Venator Flayer Cannon Crew [0(5)] Venator Reivers (max) [15] - Venator Reiver Officer & Standard [4] Venator Slingers (min) [8] Siege Animantarax [17] Siege Animantarax [17]
Reports later!

Nice! What is your Mak1 build? Makeda1 (Mak Attack!) - Molik - Gladiator - Scarab Pack (Disposable Shield Guards, I don't think I forced them or attacked with them a single time) Ferox (max) Radheim Bloodrunners Bloodrunner Master Tormentor x2 Willbreaker Beast Handlers (min) Chef MAXIMUS! (because Makeda1 can actually deliver him) It's designed to be fast, with constant assassination threat and scenario pressure. Though the Bloodrunners need a particular target to shine, and unfortunately that target seems to be rare in my meta. They did score me zones, though.

Kept my lists very simple while I was moving: Makeda1 super beasts + Rasheth fart theme guns. Makeda1 was easily the weak link; can’t wait for more themes:
(Makeda 1) Archdomina Makeda [+29] - Archidon [10] - Basilisk Krea [7] - Desert Hydra [38] - Molik Karn [19] - Titan Gladiator [15] Legends of Halaak [8] Paingiver Beast Handlers (max) [7]
--
(Rasheth 1) Dominar Rasheth [+28] - Basilisk Drake [8] - Basilisk Drake [8] - Cyclops Raider [9] - Cyclops Raider [9] - Cyclops Shaman [8] Extoller Soulward [3] Mortitheurge Willbreaker [0(4)] Venator Dakar [4] Paingiver Beast Handlers (min) [5] Venator Flayer Cannon Crew [0(5)] Venator Reivers (max) [15] - Venator Reiver Officer & Standard [4] Venator Slingers (max) [13] Siege Animantarax [17]
--
Game One: Makeda1 vs. Caine1 This is a good Cygnar player and Caine1 is his favorite. He had Ace, stormstrider, Thunderhead, silverline stormguard, Arlan, stormlances, Laddermore, mechanics, Jr. and a firefly. He wanted to play his stormlances as a ranged unit before they get nerfed. Scenario was the barbell (breakdown).
The interesting thing about this match up was that, with snipe, several guns on the board could still threaten under sandstorm without getting charged (but a lightning immune archidon as a shield guard helped). I feated fairly early to get my Legends up the board. I made a mistake early by not clearing the center zone, which put me on the backfoot scenario-wise. However, a quickened hydra shot up the board, ate the disco ball, but couldn’t close the deal on Thunderhead. In the end, my opponent clocked out as Makeda grabbed CPs in the right-hand zone. 1-0.
Game Two: Rasheth vs. Strakhov2 I looked at the table, saw it was the one terrain set up in the store that didn’t have a giant line of sight blocker in the middle of the board, and promptly picked the gunline. My opponent had an option for winterguard with Butcher1 to shoot back, but elected Strakhov2 with double ironfang pikeman, the solo, max uhlans + cav solo, a couple of heavies, the dog, and the Great Bears and… it… was… brutal.
Winning the roll to go first, and figuring he needed to engage as quickly as possible, he took the advance move on one unit of IFP and ran them up, ran up a with the other quickened unit of IFP, and then ran the cav up the flank. Seeing how close he was, I ran the dakar up (for veteran leader) and took an inventory of what I could hit. Most guns threaten 20" from their start point in the list (far strike on the beasts / mini feat on the reivers). Slingers only threaten 16", but do so from the AD line and become 8-10" arc nodes for Rasheth from their end point.
Thus, I gunned down 3 Uhlans (raider shot + Rasheth spells), the ironfang solo, and 8 IFP bottom of one. 4 more died to slinger corrosion as turn 2 began. Honestly, if one unit of IFP wasn't quickened, I would've killed even more. Seeing 16 models dead, my opponent conceded before allocating focus turn two. 2-0.
Game Three: Rasheth vs. Thyron Opponent has Imperatus, a light jack, vengeance dudes + spell reducer solo, support for Thyron, and mage hunter strike force + Eiryss. I win the roll to go first and see the MHSF sitting on their AD line. Did you know that two Skorne warlocks can arc into the opponent’s AD top of one? One is Hexy2 with a razor worm rushed by a gladiator; the other is Rasheth with slingers. (You can deviate into their AD with desperate-paced catapult, but that takes more luck.) For losing two slingers, I picked up all but two MHSF (they were at least spaced out). Tilted my opponent and the game in my favor. It was simply a blood mark then gundownfest from there. 3-0.
Game Four: Rasheth vs. Kaya3 Opponent has a bunch of birds, 2x warpwolves, shifting stones + UA, 2x blackclad, some support. My opponent gets stealth all over and I only have one extoller who always lets the derp turtle see the world. I feat bottom of two allowing the slingers to flare a couple of birds. By the end, my opponent is down 2 birds, a warpwolf, and a blackclad, but from there, things start to crap out. I eat a couple of crazed primaled birds, and even blocking their animus with castigate, when Kaya3 feats, it’s tough to hit the rest (my turtle missed boosted three knockdown swings [puppet strings] costing me not only scenario points, but the solos that came out onto the flag, only to get eaten next turn by what should be dead). Late in the game, my opponent had a brilliant move: He moved the stones close to his flag, charged the blackclad in to kill the extoller by my flag, then battlewizard teleported 29” onto his own flag where nothing could contest for several turns, giving him the scenario win. Best play I’ve seen in years. 3-1 and second on the day.

Against living foes I've come to regard my slingers as fine front line brawlers in WoD. As high as effective mat 10 pow10 does plenty against infantry.
