I have to admit that I hated them so much that I made my Nyss hunters out of 9 soulless escorts and a Rhyas with bows added on.

I'm new to the Rhulic nation and Mercs in general. But so far I've enjoyed what I've experienced. Got a game in with Ossrum against Ragnor. Coming from Legion I'm not used to games devolving into massive slugfests that go all the way to the end of round 7. I ended up winning on CP tiebreakers 3-1 by combining Unstoppable Force Gun Bunnies and a Basher slamming a Mauler out of the center zone on Breakdown for the last points I needed to pull ahead. Looking forward to experimenting with Ossrum more! Also Gorten is intriguing as he seems to be the one Dwarf caster that is quite happy to play out of theme. I have a list including Nyss and Idrians in the works, I'm excited to put models on the table again soon.

I made my Nyss right around the end of Mk 2 and have only played them with Gorten since then. Blast Immune and with Wrongeye and Snapjaw makes them absolutely no fun to play into.

Love seeing Gorten on the board. He's the caster who got me into the game so he's very near and dear to my heart. I've yet to try Nyss with him, but I was running him with Kayazy with Snapjaw early in Mk3 to some degree of success. Currently I've been running Gorten in Hammer Strike (odd, I know) in a iteration of a list tanan posted a few months ago in a different thread as I tend to prefer attrition. I run it as a pairing to my Ossrum weapon master list. At the moment I'm looking for some solid (this word might have varying degrees of validity) Madhammer lists in theme. Currently I'm playing him with 2 siege crawlers, but the rest of the list is more or less in flux due to the lack of anything Rhulic that goes well with him. Has anyone used Madhammer in theme to any sort of success (tournament success preferred as I'm trying to finalize some things for an upcoming tourney)?

I recently went 4-1 with that list (lost in finals table against Axis double TEP) in a 16 player national tournament in Ropecon 2017.

tanan I've enjoyed using it; a lot of fun. I'm curious if you've made any changes since the new Siege Crawler rules have gone live. Also, mind sharing what your pairing list was for that tournament? Good to see Gorten still being used with success especially in Hammer Strike.

You can't improve on perfection, so there are no changes to the original list . I haven't tried the new siege crawler, but on paper I don't see a place for it. Lacking boosted attack and dmg rolls is unacceptable for a high cost gun platform. The only thing going for it is the single model stealth negation. Also, mind sharing what your pairing list was for that tournament? Good to see Gorten still being used with success especially in Hammer Strike. My other list was Ossrum Hammer Strike bunnyspam (Basher, 10 Blasters, 3 Gunners, 2 HACs and Thor). After the tournament I decided that the list probably better out of theme so I swapped Basher and Thor to Anastasia, Gorman and 11th Blaster. Sniped Gorman is really good in the current meta. He even outthreats those Axis TEPs.

Thanks tanan Lol true I've had a lot of fun using your original list. My iteration of it uses the crawler in lieu of the TAC and Thor. Though I'm experimenting other alternatives/options as well, but I just love the Crawler model almost as much as Gorten lol. Oh I didn't even think about Gorman with Snipe. I'll have to try that little combo.

That's super clever...the idea of increasing his threat range never occurred to me.

I'm glad I got gotcha'd in this thread, rather than on the table.

So question, and its probably been asked. Is running pure rhulic viable currently? Rhulic was the reason i initially got into mercs, but then i started buying other pacts in mkII, but now I honestly don't care for most of mercs, except rhulic.

If you like Ossrum, then yes, definitely. Ossrum in Hammer Strike (ie - The Thulic theme), is one of the top three competitive lists in this faction. I play him all the time and can recommend some lists if you would like. Unfortunately the other two Rhulic casters are kinda mopey when used with purely Rhulic stuff. With both Gorten and Durgen, their abilities and spells mesh with non-dwarves FAR better than they do with their own race
