Anyone ever try a Magnus2 list with Wrong Eye? I'm considering it. I came to Mercs from Khador, where I enjoyed running lots of jacks, but Magnus2 might allow you to do that even better in some ways? You get lots of armor with field marshall unyielding, and jacks that can actually move, with escort and base speed 5. To top it off, bullet dodger can bump up the defense of your front-line jack to respectable levels.
My thought is to kind of spam armor and boxes with cheap heavies and lights, with Wrong Eye bumping up everything's defense to truly annoying levels as well!! Has anyone tried this? Here's the list I'm thinking about:
Magnus2 Syllys Wyshnallyr Nomad Nomad Nomad Freebooter Vanguard Talon Talon Buccaneer Wrong Eye ---Snap-Jaw Orrin Midwinter Gobber tinker Gobber tinker
Thoughts? I realize I'm leaving out the renegade. I have no shooting in this list anyway, so I'm not really going to be able to kill anything good by shooting. Had to make some tough choices to make the list a real slog to chew through. Then, the second cherry on top is that sweet, sweet Magnus2 feat...

Is there any glaring weakness I'm missing, before I get this thing on the table this weekend?

I'd say probably shooting. While you do have a lot of nice buffs, I also know that with some decent shooting you're gonna lose some of your heavy hitters before they have a chance to really get in there. But I could very well be wrong, and wish ya the best of luck any way!

what you do, see is you take skarath too and you put bullet dodger on him and you run him by wrong eye for star crossed and they hold down a zone together. good to have ragman over there too. magnus2 hates lots of guns because they shoot his stuff

Thanks for the feedback. I know I'll lose a piece or two while trying to close the gap and engage my opponent. I'm just rolling in so heavy, I'm hoping I'll grind 'em down after that.

Id reconsider about taking the renegade not so much for the ranged rocket but for the ability to arc calamity as the spell is awesome and gives you much more flexibility for position and threat.

If you want a jack to abuse Bullet Dodger, how about Gallant?

The issue with wrong eye and merc jacks generally is the atrocious base DEF. He doesn't help them much, and his star crossed are is tiny. That leaves you with your decent targets being gallant and a freebooter - or snapjaw. Bullet dodger on snapjaw could be a thought.
The WE&SJ plus Dahlia & Skarath package is good on a flank, D&S especially really take practice to use though.
I like Mags2 in theme with min boomhowler to ambush, a small trencher unit to smoke and neutralize the shooting for a turn, two freebooters as fast BD targets and bulk out with nomads, talons and buccaneers and just run/charge in and try to use feat to get two turns of punching things. Also a buccaneer can knock mags down for feign death on feat turn.

Star crossed barely helps at all when the enemy needs to roll anything but ones to hit (mat7 vs def10). It gets very significant if you need 5's or 6's and will force boosts to hit.
Thinking: eMags 75 Gallant Renegade Freebooter Freebooter Wrongeye & Snapjaw Dahlia & Skarath Idrian Skirmishers+UA Harlan Versh
Another emags list the other local mercs player used to win a local tourney: Mags-Galleon-Mariner-Nomad-Renegade-Madelyn-Rangers-Trenchers-Orin

I second the suggestion for Gallant, Bullet Dodger on him is truly obnoxious, add in Unyielding and Star-Crossed and you may lose some friends

I strongly considered it until I realized that the only thing I really wanted to put star crossed on with Mag2 was trenchers, and there was no way to do that. Like carey said, the base def is just so low that even on rerolls, the odds of missing are super low.
Gallant with bullet dodger and star crossed is crazy obnoxious and difficult to kill, but thats a different list entirely. That list needs some shooting support, some lane clearing, and possibly some spell negation. I think the kernel of a great idea is there (buff one jack to insanity, both def and armor, and force people into it), but the idea of trying to boost the def of Merc jacks with Mag2 seems to miss the point of bringing cheap high arm jacks.

I'd love to be able to put Star Crossed on Trenchers. That would be fun. Too bad we can't take a merc/minion solo in theme; grumble grumble. I tend to put bullet dodger on SKarrath and let the snake do some work. I'll have to try the cheap jack route with him as I currently only field 2 manglers and 2 vanguards with him.

If you want to use WE&SJ, I'd second the Dahlia & pet snake suggestion. Bullet dodger + Starcrossed on that thing is annoying as all hell.
If you want Starcrossed to be really annoying I'd add Ragman and replace some nomads with Vanguards. They have decent hitting power for lights, some utility in shield guard, assault and a RNG 8 gun and have the right defense for getting use out of that star-crossed. That'll alleviate the weakness vs shooting somewhat as you can shield guard the high power shots around. The addition of Ragman is purely to get your Vanguards to some good hitting power. Mags is going to be focus strapped though, so Sylys can be handy. Especially for throwing around Calamity
