Does anyone else read the thread title in Emperor Palpatine's voice? Just me? Yeah, I'm 100% over to War Room at this point, I feel like that's what they really want in the end anyway.
$100 for an app... No, just no.

I bought the faction deck when mk3 came out. As erratas come out I'll print cards I need and print copies of cards I don't have (recently got a 3rd Crusader, if I want all three in a single list I'll print a third card). War room is great for reference and for list building, but I want physical cards in front of me on the table. Plus I won't need to carry a phone charger to the game store with me.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I don't care how much it is... free cards online will always be the better choice. Pretty much everything else I can do either on a website or within my cloud storage. Honestly, I rarely need a rules reference which in my mind is the only thing it brings to the table, and for that I'll just check my downloaded references in my cloud on my phone which surprisingly is also free.

I already have War Room, so there's not much to be done for me.
For new players, I'll recommend getting their faction deck, and maybe mercs or minions, on war room. They can rely on the card database for researching other factions. War room does provide excellent list building features, has all the themes, and some other nice little features, all in their most updated states.

To each his or her own, but I've found that, at least for the factions I do play, I prefer having War Room. I think we're already on the 3rd iteration of some cards, so I'm glad I don't have to print more cards. As long as Mk3 last long enough that I get enough mileage out of the edition, I think it was $20 well spent, at least for a hobby. There's also the benefit of having everything integrated onto one app. Some people are complaining about the battery consumption of the app, but would'n't having to swap between windows of multiple running apps be almost equivalent?
I'll mainly be using the card base for researching my opponents, because $100 when I'm only actively using less than a quarter is a bit much.

It's a shame the pdfs from the card database assume that you will always fold them, using them to lookup rules in a digital format requires you to constantly rotate the pages (or turn your tablet). I also wonder how this will work for their brilliant "professional printing" idea, because if you want a copy center or something to print it front and back on cardboard with the proper layout I doubt they will go through the trouble of redesigning the whole thing by themselves.

So how often is the card database going to be updated upon a "final" version of a CID change vs. Warroom ? Is this measured in days, weeks, or months in terms of lag behind digital update?

For games, I stick to WarRoom. I've gotten used to it and it makes my board much less cluttered. I'm going to use the card database as a learning tool to start learning what everything else does in parallel to actually playing games. Something like flashcards.

I don't own War Room or a phone capable of really running War Room, so I'm sticking to cards. Also, I'm starting Grymkin, and wanting new cards for some stuff through CID (Storm Strider), so printing out some cards seems a good idea.
Interestingly, I think that printed cards is the best idea for the Grymkin Arcana. As your opponent will want to look at all of them at once, a lot.

The database was updated with the errata and release of new models (at least Old Witch 2) at the same time as warroom.

I normally prefer printed cards when playing, even though I have Warroom. That said, I recently started using Warroom for games and it was easier to manage than I'd thought it would be. I still like being able to very quickly scan all of my cards for rules, though. It seems to take longer when using Warroom for me.
The new card database means players won't feel the need to purchase factions on Warroom that they don't own, since they can do their research for free with the card database, which is going to be great for bringing new people into the game (that full package bundle on Warroom is steep, especially when you're looking at building an army from the ground up at the same time).
