I am ok with the recursion mechanics, it's the amount of things that are not attacks and thus stop soul collection and the proliferation of RfP that makes finding bad match-ups for Testament easy. For example every troll army pair I meet has the dude theme with Take Down.
Other than that Testament, when I actually field him, is always a demoralising experience for my opponents.

So, to provide a small amount of anecdotal evidence, took the VoJ twice today.
First game, my list - Sevvy1 Hierophant Blessing of Vengeance Guardian Vessel of Judgement 2 Vassal Mechanik Vassal of Menoth max Flame Bringers 2 Knights Exemplar units + UA min Choir
vs (best as I can recall) Butcher1 (Jaws of the Wolf theme) Destroyer x2 Manhunter x2 Widowmaker Marksman Yuri the Axe Forge Seer Behemoth Forge Seer max Kayazy Assassins + Underboss Widowmakers
Vessel managed to kill about 5 models on turn 2 (shot 2 Widowmakers on a hill, bounces killed 3 Iron Fleshed Assassins). Vessel then got shot by both Destroyers, both shots of the Behemoth, and finally charged by Yuri to die (I conceded shortly afterwords, due to several bad plays). Overall I was disappointed by the VoJ, feeling that it likely needed RNG14 again. RNG12 puts it closer than I like to the action. That said, it did take a substantial effort to kill.
Game 2, took - Harbinger Hierophant Vigilant Reckoner VoJ Tristan1 Redeemer Allediant of the Order of the Fist 2 Mechanic 1 Wrack min Choir 2 Knights Exemplar units + UA
Vs Baldur1 (Bones of Orboros theme) Woldwrath Megalith Woldwarden Woldwatcher Wold Guardian 2 Stoneshaper Blackclad Wayfarer Gallows Grove Shifting Stones + UA
Turn 1 (bottom), managed to use the Reckoner to drop some damage on the Woldwatcher, and used Redeemer to kill a Shifting Stone. Top of 2, some 4 KE were shot, saved 3, then Baldur popped feat. Bottom of 2, used all my shooting (Reckoner, 2 Redeemer shots, and 2 Vessel shots) to drop Megalith to 6 boxes and kill the Grove (last Redeemer shot, due to focus didn't have the focus to send another boosted shot at Megalith). Feeling pressure, opponent trampled the Woldwrath up, popped the animus, and had sufficient magical sprays to kill Harbinger through her camp (still had 2 damage on her from saving the Knights). In this game, I was quite happy with the VoJ, the Wolds were slow enough to ensure I could get some good shots out, 2 boosted POW15 did decent damage, and the healing/purify pulse really helped Harby out.
Overall, I think it's worth trying again, but certainly needs to be protected.
