I picked up my first Khador models earlier this week starting with the battlebox. I realized after I bought it though that the warcaster I really wanted to play was Karchev but I had already purchased the box so I was determined to get my money out of it. I looked through my supplies and found plenty of green stuff and decided to just make my own Karchev using a few of the bits available from the privateer press website and the juggernaut from the box and I think he turned out pretty good. Here he is. Sadly the lighting in my house is not the best so the pics don't really do him justice. I have tons of pics of the process if anyone is interested in seeing him as he developed. I can also get better pictures of specific details if anyone cares. Tell me what you think!

Very nice! He reminds me a bit of Abbadon. I'd love to see some work in progress shots.

That's some seriously good green stuff work! As to you having trouble with the skirt, have you tried brown stuff or Procreate?

I have no idea what either of those things are, I will totally give them a look. Do they harden better than green stuff does? I was considering just hitting some thick plasticard with a heat gun and seeing if I can get it into a roughly cloak shape.

They are both types of two part epoxy similar to greenstuff but with different properties. I have never used brown stuff, but procreate certainly gets harder than greenstuff and is my putty of choice personally.

Yeah - that's some really impressive work with the green stuff. I'm staring at the photo trying to imagine how you get such fine detail. I wouldn't even know how to get the green stuff surface that smooth, much less that detailed.

I've played around with green stuff, Procreate, and Aves Apoxie sculpt. They all have their own unique qualities. Green stuff is the hardest of the bunch to master, Procreate is easier to manipulate, Apoxie Sculpt is cheaper and water soluble. Apoxie Sculpt is my favorite, but I use it more for terrain. And it's sandable once cured, the other two not so much. I don't have any experience with brown stuff, but it is harder than green stuff so doesn't flex and move around if you try to shape it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Getting the detail into the GS really is just a matter of time and patience. I always make sure to let the GS cure a little before trying to work with it, it holds detail better that way. tapecrawler, Have you used any of those putties to make large capes? The problem I am running into is when I make a cape large enough for him it ends up being way too bendy when I use GS.

Ah, I have seen all these unfortunately. The problem I am running into isn't so much the making of the cape it's the structural integrity of the cape on the model after it dries. Hopefully I can fix that problem with brown stuff. Or possibly some mixture of green stuff and brown stuff.

Stunning green stuff work!
I would love to see something else.

I didn't come across it when I searched the other day, but I have seen tutorials that will use bent wire as a stiffener for cloaks and other forms that jut way out from the model.

AegisI don't have any other GS work. This is literally the first time I have ever tried to sculpt anything with green stuff. I was thinking about starting a post to show off my painting though . tapecrawlerI think that adding some wire and using brown stuff might be just enough to make a durable cape to dramatically blow in the wind. I have tried and failed twice and each time I have been like "man that looks amazing" and then I let it cure and try and bend it and it's just all silly putty. Mk3 cape inbound. It's gonna work this time.
