Mage Sight is one of those spells where you never want to have to cast it.
That said, has anyone attempted to use Mage Sight proactively? It is an upkeep after all. You could get some board denial going for LOS blocking armies.

I only ever use it to gotcha someone hiding behind a forest or cloud. I guess you could just drop it early to stop someone hiding to begin with but paying a focus a turn on our 6 focus caster feels like a waste. Id rather let my opponent forget about the spell and blunder into an assassination.

Mage sight allows you to shoot while your own units are hiding behind a forest. It's amazing.

In fact it's Caine3's main advantage over Kara -- Kara doesn't ignore forests.

It looks like a pretty useful assassination tool. It isn't as good with Brisbane as with Caine3, since Caine usually has a bigger battlegroup. I wouldn't bother casting it unless an oppurtunity to hit the caster opened up.

But that's why you rarely see Siege these days I am personally curious to see if gravediggers and the trencher puppy change this calculus. Free points for the stuff Siege likes to take anyway and the ability to give some of them the ability to see through stealth too, while Siege can mage sight a few big guns in his battlegroup.

You can do something pretty interesting with defensive scoring flags. Cast Magesight so it would touch a caster should they try to score and a stealth caster essentially can't risk trying to score or get killed
