Started working on my Iron Fangs. Not sure when I'll paint them, but I at least want them assembled. I decided to magnetize the shields and banners. Here's some photos of how I did it in case it helps someone. I'm using the standard bearer as an example. All the others will have their shields done in the exact same ways. For the shields I drilled out a 1/8" hole and inserted a 1/8" wide by 1/8" think magnet. I think on the other shields I'll only use a 1/16" think magnet. It should be more than strong enough. On the backs of the standards I glued in a piece of paperclip. I clipped off the top of the standard pole with some flush cutters. Using regular cutters and filing it flat would work also. Then I glued on the magnet. I tried it with both the face down and face up like you see below. I liked face up more because it gave more surface for the standard to stick to, meaning it holds better. The standard doesn't also doesn't wiggle side to side as much. For the second standard I have I think I'll file it so it's a little concave at the top of the pole. On the shield are I bought a sheet of steel from the hobby/crafts section of my local hardware store. I cut off a little piece with metal shears and glued it to the arm Here's what it looks like put together. The shield hides the standard bearers face, but that seems to be how it was designed to look based on the way the parts fit. And here you can see how tight the fit is on the parts. All in all I think it came out pretty good.

I know I said so on the PP boards, but this is so clever - and well executed. I too have tried the metal-on-magnet thing (vs. just magnet-on-magnet) when space is tight and it works well.
Will they be painted any time soon? I'd like to check out the finished product!

I got one unit magnetized, the thinner magnets worked great, but haven't painted yet. Life happened. I hope to get it done sometime soonish. I did metal on magnets for my Victor/Conquest's head also. I really like it for nice light parts. I'll probably do it that way in the future when it comes to things like the Juggernaut/Destroyer's axe.
