Horgle's Mountain King is one of the best (and most entertaining) huge-based models in the game. The amount of hate (both on and off the table) people give a fire immune, ARM 23, whelp-shedding huge base that can potentially charge for free at PS 23 is really gratifying. Also you can smack the mountain king with Horgle to trigger a chain attack:ignition if needed.

Does anyone else almost feel like the chain attack is a hindrance? I kept getting into situations where I couldn't hit the same model with all my attacks because it would mean killing my own models. Just kind of a headache.

I have not played Horgle, but I fear being that close to the front lines is a trap.
However, smacking a Huge base to get everything within 2" of it, sounds great! Probably a good way to light your Fire Eaters up, too.

Everyone is talking sluggers, and they are great... but have you tried a min unit of scattergunners with the officer. I love asking their caster (if not immune to fire), how many POW 12 boosted sprays can you take? Below is the list I've been running, feel free to try it out.
Jam with ARM 19-21 Kriel Warriors... Clear them with sprays if they live... or use it as assassination... or just to take care of heavys on feat turn. Feat turn with this is for taking out heavies and casters. I usually put the +2 ARM buff on Warriors til enough die and I then put it on the Mtn King... Fire Eaters are another Pow 12 boosted spray and protect the warriors from the auto 1 point models, and can set up more fire on models for feat turn.
Highlights from playing this list so far are removing 3 juggernauts with the Mtn King in one feat round, when I forgot to rage him, and figuring out the number of double boosted sprays Reznik could take was about 4.
Horgle2 -Runebearer -Mtn King -Dire Troll Bomber Kriel Warriors (max) Trollkin Scattergunners (min) with CA Northkin Fire Eaters x2 Kriel Stone and Bearer (min) Feralgeist

Probably a good way to light your Fire Eaters up, too. I have never even tried to trigger the chain attack off of enemy models. It pretty much always is used on the Mountain King. In practice it doesn't come up that often, because I don't want to blow up all the whelps the King has shed before he can eat them, but sometimes that last auto-hit can finish off something important.

I wonder how useful Rok is with Horgle. I know people are fond of him in theme, but I find the idea of lighting people on fire with the assault spray is funny enough for me to want to try. Bonus points if you crit freeze while you do it.

Bonus points if you crit freeze while you do it. I find this fascinating. He can at least light up his own target on feat turn. Two immunities is fun as well.

Every beast can light up its own target though. Either you bet that Rök hits his unboosted assault shot, or you spend a fury to boost. It is the same thing for any model. If you hit the first attack, you get boosted damage on all the rest. Naturally, Horgle will kill anything he touches on the feat turn, but so will most things

List from last night: Horgle - Runebearer, Swamp, Pyre, Bouncer, MK, 2xFire Eaters, Min Stone, War Wagon
against: Darius - squire, Storm Wall, Centurion, Gallant, Strangeways, Junior, Charger
Very interesting game because neither of us had any threat extenders(outside of a run and jackhammer) so a major positioning battle. I was able to take Gallant off the board with a unit of Fire Eaters and a Pyre on feat turn as well as the SW(with AS) with my King and War Wagon. I had some trouble with Darius himself because of terrible roles from my FEs and frankly bad positioning on my part(good positioning on my opponents) so the game went longer than I wanted but it was still really fun.
It feels very strange to go so minimal on the support for trolls and not having any guaranteed whelps hurt me when the MK frenzied into the WW for 12 damage(no charge) but it was fun. Don't think I would want to play it into a lot of different armies but this one was a good matchup. Bringing the swamp troll to pull the shield guarding sentinel off of Darius to shoot him with the WW was tons of fun. Can't wait to see what they do to the WW because I already enjoy playing it so any improvements will be gravy.
edit: wanted to note I totally forgot to ignore blast damage when setting the FEs on fire last night when I had Solid Ground up. Will have to remember that in the future.

Finally finished painting my Horgle, so I played him last night: Trollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points (Horgle 2) Horgle, the Anvil [+29] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Slag Troll [10] - Trollkin Runebearer [4] Dhunian Knot [6] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] Thumper Crew [5] Trollkin Sluggers (max) [10] Trollkin Sluggers (max) [10]
vs. Jaws of the Wolf, Butcher3, Ruin, 2x Kodiak, 3x Juggy, Widowmakers + solo, 2x K. Eliminators, Manhunter.
Feat turn was surprisingly ineffective, even though I lit 4 Khador WJs on fire, and fired as many shots as possible [Sluggers sadly don't perform that well at -7 damage vs. ARM, even boosted]. 1.5 turns later, Horgle dies to Butcher3 charge. Butcher3 had been protected by double Kodiak clouds, to make assassination by range an impossibility. 6 ARM 20 WJs is whoa-nelly btw! Least favorite opposing move of the game, Ruin auto-dispelling Inviolable Resolve off my lead Bomber (ARM 22). Full disclosure, my deployment for this game really, really sucked!
I believe my Khador/Skorne drops from now on will rarely involve a ranged-skew. But I dislike having to build specifically 'anti-X' on casual game night. So I won't, and will continue to have an uphill slog . Feels like my MKI Trollbloods initiation, all over again!

Modified my Horgle2 for reasons of POD. Second game vs. Cygnar [Maddox]
Trollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] The Power of Dhunia (Horgle 2) Horgle, the Anvil [+29] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Troll Bouncer [9] - Trollkin Runebearer [0] Troll Whelps [0] Dhunian Knot [6] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Stone Scribe Elder [3] Trollkin Runeshapers [9] Trollkin Runeshapers [9] Trollkin Runeshapers [9]
Feat turn eliminated Storm Strider, two Stormlances, severely damaged Stormclad. Runeshapers whittled down Stormblades. Bouncer acted as significant forward positioning charge-lane blocker w/ Whelps.
POD bonuses for a Warlock with 3 upkeeps is second player gold. Horgle2 playing forward for Feat makes camping Fury against retaliation important. And thus Whelps for Fury elimination is a NECESSITY.

Horgle is pretty far down my list of things to play, but besides the "normal" build with a gargantuan and possibly sluggers i dojoed a list that is very similar to the old EE theme force. All of the lights become very interesting if they can charge for free and with the feat they kill things too. A pyre or two to light things up, a mauler and an assortment of random lights seems pretty legit on paper with this guy. Basically, you have larger volume of attacks than a 5 heavy build, so you should do better against infantry, and with the feat, your lights can kill heavies. I guess it is nothing you would drop against 7+ heavies, since it would be hard to time the feat well enough, but against balanced lists or infantry heavy lists it seems totally legit.
Has any one had any experience with that type of list?
