I've been playing Grayle recently and having a lot of fun. I do play him in The Wild Hunt as I really like the synergy's and ambushing WoO.
As far as tips to making him work, I'm: - Remember to chip away at things with Reeve's, warwolf charges, Grayle, Morraig, etc. They all contribute damage but in most situations it's less about getting that one primaled whatever to something and more about stripping out 10 boxes with each smaller activation.
You can do some good attrtion work that way.
- Ambush is useful in a bunch of ways. Getting the most out of it is a big part of the list's strength.
-Grayle isn't Butcher. Don't expect him to be. He certainly does do some work and is a great solo killer and chip-in-er but in general isn't really going to be murdering heavies by himself. (Please be aware there is a difference between *can* kill heavies/casters and *reliably* kills hard targets.)
-Figuring out where to put him so he doesn't die is clutch. 15/18 with stealth is solid but not immortal. He also wants to be doing stuff. Not getting him dead while doing stuff is pretty clutch.

I have been playing Grayle recently - I think he can be pretty strong (enough that I am considering taking him to WTC). Though I don't feel like I have locked down my warbeast choices, my list so far is:
Grayle WW Stalker (pathfinder, hits hard) Woldwatcher (Earth's Blessing makes Grayle very resistant to assassination, good for a mid-line caster) Gorax (to primal the stalker for assassinations)
Wolves of Orboros (max)+ UA Wolves of Orboros (max)+ UA Reeves (max) + UA Skinwalkers (max) + UA Morraig War wolf War wolf
This gives 3 free UAs. The list basically attritions pretty well and looks for assassination openings, via either big reeve CRAs and war wolf charges, the Stalker using a feat move (and maybe gallows) to get on the caster, or Grayle himself. The two lights and a war wolf could become a Feral for another heavy hitter while keeping primal, or a Gnarlhorn while keeping EB.
I like him - he feels like he is not overtly strong, but has enough tools and tricks to win games.
